SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Baby name experts say there’s a recent trend that’s – well, backward. They are seeing an increase in first names given to newborns that are commonly thought of as surnames. And really, it’s not a new thing at all. Namerology founder Laura Wattenberg points out that there are many surnames that have become “so well established” as first names that we no longer think of them as surnames at all, such as Milton or Irving, which date back over 100 years. Or Glenn, Stewart, Curtis, and Wayne. More recently, Courtney, Taylor and Kelsey have all been big as first names. She points out that today, some last names that are starting to become common given names include Cash, Davis, Everly, Quinn and Wells. And she predicts we may see some other last names become first names, including Kingsley, Beck, and Sterling. Other “genteel” last names that are good candidates to become big as first names are: Montgomery, Shepard and Jennings, and one-syllable names like Locke, Holt, and Penn. Want more? Collins, Brooks, and Hayes might all become popular first names, as could Harlow, Winslow, Lennox and Knox.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
Scarlett Johansson is headlining “Jurassic World Rebirth” alongside Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey, opening this summer. And its success could also give ScarJo yet another mega-franchise after her tenure as ‘Black Widow’ in the MCU. Johansson’s superhero was killed off in “Avengers: Endgame,” and then she went on to headline the prequel “Black Widow.” And according to her, that marked her last MCU appearance. She said to InStyle: “Natasha is dead. She is dead, OK? (Fans) just don’t want to believe it. They’re like, ‘But she could come back!’ Look…She saved the world. Let her have her hero moment.”
A remake of Stephen King’s “Cujo” is in the works at Netflix, an insider says. “Barbarian” producer Roy Lee is aboard, and a writer is currently being sought. King’s original 1981 novel centers on a mother and son who are trapped in a hot car and are being terrorized by a rabid 200-pound St. Bernard. A film adaptation arrived in 1983 which was directed by Lewis Teague and starred Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh Kelly and Danny Pintauro.

Scientists have discovered an Earth-size planet in the habitable zone of its host star, which may have liquid water and breathable air.
People exercise in order to look good more than for health. That surprising finding emerged when Tel Aviv University researchers studied fitness motivation in an unusual way: they analyzed Reddit conversations instead of using traditional surveys. They found that physical appearance was the top motivation for exercise (24% of comments), with physical health (19%) and mental health (17%) trailing behind.

WEIRD NEWS
A Canadian beer company is marketing what it says could be just the thing people need to endure the current tense political climate between their country and the USA. An ad from Moosehead Breweries appearing on social media reads: “Introducing the Presidential Pack. With 1,461 Canadian Lagers, it’s just enough to get through a full presidential term.” As you might have guessed, that would work out to one beer for each day of the Trump presidency. A press release points out: “It will take determination to weather 4 years of political uncertainty—and what better way to make it through each day than with a truly Canadian beer.” And how much does it cost for that serving of Canadian goodness to look forward to each day? A whopping $3,490 – plus tax and shipping. Canadian dollars, of course. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yc7y5cnk
