SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
A survey of 2,000 Americans commissioned by True Lemon found that folks who drink 10+ glasses of water a day were more likely to label themselves “very happy”—and to appreciate small pleasures. Turns out staying hydrated doesn’t just boost physical health—it contributes to emotional well-being, too!

Marvel launches Phase 6 with this retro-futuristic take on Reed, Sue, Ben & Johnny discovering cosmic threats like Galactus. The film premiered July 24 in the UK and July 25 in the US to strong reviews (89% on Rotten Tomatoes), praised for its visuals, though some noted a lack of character chemistry.
The next chapter in James Cameron’s blockbuster franchise hits theaters December 19, 2025. The trailer, released earlier this week, introduces the fire-adapted Ash Clan as new antagonists to Jake Sully and Neytiri.
Adam Sandler returns nearly 30 years later as the infamous golfer. Released July 25, the sequel brings back classic characters and new faces like Margaret Qualley—but expectations are mixed.
DID YA KNOW!?
Mercury, not Venus, is the closest planet to Earth on average. On average, Mercury is 1.04 astronomical units (AU) away from Earth compared to the 1.14 AU average distance between Earth and Venus. One AU is equal to the average distance between the Earth and the Sun. Venus still comes closest to Earth as part of its orbit around the Sun, however.

OF THE DAY
A study shows that 30% of adults say they NEVER eat hot dogs.
Comedian John Oliver brought a major dose of fun to the baseball diamond with his rebranding of the Erie SeaWolves, a Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, to the newly christened Erie Moon Mammoths. This quirky transformation came out of a segment on Last Week Tonight inviting teams to pitch creative rebrands—and Erie won. The debut game on June 29 drew a record crowd of 7,070 fans, eager to cheer on the purple woolly mammoth mascot named Fuzz. The original discoverer of a mammoth bone in the area, George Moon, even joined the celebration and caught Oliver’s ceremonial first pitch. Highlights included merchandise sales exploding, Oliver serving as guest batboy, leading a sing-along, and committing his game attire to the Baseball Hall of Fame archive. Though the Mammoths lost 6–5, the playful spirit won big — and they’re already planning more appearances next season.

WEIRD NEWS
Balenciaga is back at it — making ‘worn-out’ look ‘runway-ready’, with a price tag to match. The fashion house’s latest stunt? A collab with Puma that reimagines the classic 1999 Speedcat sneaker, originally made for Formula 1 racing. The twist? This version looks like it’s already survived a demolition site. Balenciaga slapped its name on the tongue, roughed up the suede, peeled off Puma’s logo, and now, it’s selling the “distressed” kicks for $685 — a far cry from the original $100 price tag. The shoes, part of Balenciaga’s Winter 2025 collection, come in colors like “dirty white” and “super faded black.” Online reactions? Brutal. One commenter wrote: “Did you find these at a thrift store?” Another said it looked like they’d been “run over by every kind of construction vehicle.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4vrpdeb9
