SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Struggling with back pain? A new Norwegian study offers a simple fix: walking. Researchers tracked over 11,000 adults for 4 years, using motion-sensing devices…and found that clocking about 100 minutes of walking a day (roughly an hour and 40 minutes) cut the risk of chronic lower back pain by 23%. Surprisingly, how fast you walk matters less than just getting those steps in. The protective effect was strongest for adults 65 and older, and worked for both men and women. The researchers say that breaking it into short strolls throughout the day makes it easy — and your back will thank you.

“Weapons” director Zach Cregger has more plans for ‘Aunt Gladys’, the wickedly talented occult expert played by Amy Madigan. He confirmed reports he’s developing a “Weapons” prequel that will focus on the character. In a new interview, he said: “It is real and I’ve been talking to Warner Bros. about it. There’s a story and I’m pretty excited about it.” Cregger also said that he had the idea for a prequel even before Weapons became a hit, grossing more than $260 million worldwide.
Rebel Wilson is back in the director’s chair. The star of “Pitch Perfect” and “Bridesmaids”, will write, direct, produce, and star in the comedy “Girl Group”. In it, she seizes the chance to stage a comeback by coaching a group of misfit teen girls for a major record label audition, only to push them too far, forcing her to confront her toxic industry, and her own streak of self-destruction.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo face off, and team up, in the final trailer for “Wicked: For Good”, which is set to arrive in theaters Nov. 21. The 3-minute clip offers a comprehensive overview of what WE can expect in the highly anticipated sequel. It starts with Grande’s ‘Glinda’ assuming the mantle of ‘Glinda the Good’, while Erivo’s ‘Elphaba’ has been cast out from Oz and denounced as the ‘Wicked Witch of the West’. Later, the pair looks to find common ground and contend with the chaos that engulfs Oz following the sudden arrival of ‘Dorothy’ from the far-off land of Kansas. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4uz5cmcr

The debate over how often to wash jeans may finally have an answer. Linley McConnell, laundry expert and vice-president of Gibson’s Cleaners, says that most jeans can be worn 8-10 times before washing, provided they don’t get dirty. Stretch denim may need washing sooner to maintain shape, while denim jackets can last up to 15 wears. To protect color, she suggests washing jeans inside out in cold water, optionally adding half a cup of kosher salt. Spot-treat stains with color-safe detergent and a toothbrush, and avoid the dryer: Simply lay laundered denims flat to preserve elasticity and fabric integrity.

OF THE DAY
The class of 2025 SAT scores were down, reaching a 20-year-low, according to a report.
A growing number of people are embracing “repeat traveling.” That’s when you revisit the same vacation destination year after year. A survey of 2,000 American travelers found that by visiting the same place for holidays, many are seeking familiarity, comfort, and connection with local communities. Repeat visitors often feel like “locals,” with 65% reporting a strong sense of belonging. While beachgoers and theme park families are most likely to repeat travel, the survey found that road trippers tend to explore new places. Repeat travel can also save money, averaging $1,854 per trip versus $2,016 for new destinations. Nostalgia and family traditions are also key motivators, and more than half of those surveyed plan to revisit familiar spots in the coming year. Some other findings…
• The average number of repeat visits: 5
• 30% return to the same destination yearly
• 49% of parents said they have taken their children to a destination that was meaningful to them growing up.

WEIRD NEWS
A Japanese athlete set an odd world record by sprinting 100 meters on all fours in just 14.55 seconds. 22-year-old Ryusei Yonee broke the previous record of 15.66 seconds, held by American Collin McClure. Yonee said he began running on all fours in middle school after a teacher suggested 4-legged animals are faster. He studied the movements of dogs, cats and monkeys to refine his technique. Training mostly on sand, he had to adjust to the rebound of a track. Determined to expand the unusual sport, Yonee vows to keep improving his performance, and chase future records.
