SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Millennials are leading the resolution charge heading into 2026, according to a new survey, with more than half saying they planned to set New Year’s goals. That’s far more than any other generation. Saving money, exercising more, and improving overall health top the list of most-popular resolutions. Men are more likely than women to set goals — and to feel confident about completing them. While financial stress remains a major barrier, millennials stand out for their willingness to keep pushing forward after setbacks, viewing failure as part of the process, rather than a stopping point. Just 10% of respondents to the poll, which was taken in the US, rated 2025 as “great,” with many saying they are eager for a reset.

Additional stats from the survey:

38% of respondents overall plan to set resolutions for 2026

57% of Millennials are making resolutions, and just 23% of Baby boomers

The average number of resolutions per person: 6 (SIX????)

The top goals: saving money (45%), exercising more (45%), better physical health (41%)

The biggest barrier for Gen Z, millennials, and Gen X: lack of money

49% said 2026 will be “their year”.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Filmmaker Tyler Perry has been sued for sexual assault by actor Mario Rodriguez in the second lawsuit filed against him in recent months. Rodriguez, who appeared in “Boo! A Madea Halloween”, alleges Perry subjected him to repeated unwanted sexual advances over several years, including sexual battery and assault at Perry’s LA home. The actor is seeking at least $77 million in damages and also has sued Lionsgate, which distributed the 2016 film, accusing the studio of turning a blind eye. In June, actor Derek Dixon filed a civil suit, accusing Perry of repeated sexual assault and harassment.

A new documentary reveals that Chevy Chase was put into a coma for about 8 days after he experienced heart failure during the pandemic. It was reported in 2021 that the now-82-year-old comedian spent 5 weeks in the hospital due to undisclosed heart issues. In the doc, Chase’s daughter Caley says: “[He] has basically come back from the dead. He had heart failure”. “I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not,” premieres New Year’s Day on CNN.

Chevy Chase allegedly had a “full meltdown” after it was leaked that he used the N-word on the set of “Community,” a witness to the 2012 incident claims. In the upcoming CNN documentary “I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not,” director Jay Chandrasekhar explained that he was directing the sitcom the night that Chase got fired for using the racial slur. Chandrasekhar said Chase was frustrated about a “blackface” hand puppet bit written for his character, and “said something” to co-star Yvette Nicole Brown. When the cast and crew returned, Chase had a “full meltdow,” saying: “My career is ruined! I’m ruined!”. “I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not” comes out Jan. 1.

DID YA KNOW!?

DID YOU KNOW… Humans share about 60 percent of their DNA with bananas. While this does not mean humans are “part banana,” it reflects how many basic cellular functions are shared across living organisms. DNA similarities often reveal common biological processes, not appearance.

SCOOP OF THE DAY

It's Dry January! While taking a month off alcohol sounds like a smart thing to do, many of us assume when we begin that we probably won’t last the whole month. Well, science says you should give it a shot anyway, because just trying is good for you. A review of 16 studies in Alcohol and Alcoholism found that temporary abstinence leads to benefits that extend well beyond January. People who didn’t complete the full month still reported improved mental health – and they still drank less 6 months later. Meanwhile, those who did complete the Dry January assignment saw improvements in liver function, blood sugar, sleep, weight, and concentration. Studies also found lower blood pressure and insulin resistance after a month off. They also reported better mental well-being and greater control over their drinking – changes that helped reduce alcohol use long after Dry January ended.

WEIRD NEWS

According to Business Insider, singles are increasingly using Artificial Intelligence to navigate the dating world, from Hinge bios to DM openers. Startups like Rizz, YourMove, and Roast offer AI-driven advice and witty lines, while heavyweights Tinder and Hinge experiment with conversation starters and photo selectors. Users say chatbots help them refine messages, craft profiles, and even decide whether to text someone. 26-year-old Rebecca Koltun used AI when deciding whether to text someone she met in a club. According to her: “Chat told me to wait – and it worked.” Meanwhile, 18-year-old Chase Dennis tweaks AI-generated pick-up lines for his own voice. Stats show that over 30% of active daters use AI, which means the era of the “AI wingman” is officially here. But use caution: 40% of dating app users say AI-altered photos are a deal breaker.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

25% of us don’t have one of these…but almost 60% have TWO. What are they?

Some believe the color of your New Year’s Eve underwear can influence the energy you attract in the year ahead, if you can believe it. Pink underwear is linked to love, harmony, and stronger emotional connections, while white represents peace, calm…and a fresh start. Yellow is said to symbolize wealth and financial growth, making it a popular choice for career goals. Black, on the other hand, stands for power, control, and confidence – perfect if you’re entering the year focused and determined. While it’s a lighthearted superstition, choosing a color that reflects your intentions can be a fun, low-effort way to welcome the new year with optimism and purpose…and maybe manifest what you are hoping for in 2026.

Blue — Health, wellness, and balance

Baby Blue — Calm energy, rest, and mindfulness
