Dating apps are starting to lose their charm — and their users. Stats show that in the UK alone, the biggest platforms dropped over a million users last year. Why? People are simply over it. Swipe fatigue is real, and many are tired of ghosting, flaky chats, and connections that fizzle out faster than you can say “left swipe.” What started as an exciting way to meet someone, according to those who know, has morphed into a mindless loop of boredom, disappointment, and algorithmic frustration. Many apps seem more focused on keeping people on the app than in helping create an actual relationship. Unlike the OG dating sites — like OkCupid, with its charmingly nerdy quizzes – people say that today’s apps are like digital slot machines, running on secretive AI and engagement metrics. And as trust erodes, people are demanding more transparency, more control, and more meaning.

If those rumors about Justin Bieber being broke are true, his wife should be able to help out. Hailey Bieber’s beauty brand rhode has been sold to budget makeup powerhouse e.l.f. Beauty for $1 billion. Founded in 2022, e.l.f. racked up $212 million in sales in its last fiscal year. And earlier this year, rhode announced that its products will be sold in stores at Sephoras in North America and the UK. E.l.f. said that Hailey Bieber will serve as rhode’s chief creative officer and head of innovation. She’s the company’s founder and current creative director.
The original Broadway cast of “Hamilton” will reunite at this year’s Tony Awards to mark the 10th anniversary of Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s groundbreaking musical. Hamilton became a cultural phenomenon, credited with bringing new audiences to Broadway, spotlighting a diverse cast in the telling of American history and helping ignite broader conversations about race, politics and representation in the arts. The 78th Tony Awards, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, airs on CBS June 8.
“Survivor” normally waits until about a month before a season premieres to officially reveal its cast, but nothing is normal about what will be the landmark 50th installment of the reality competition series. Even though Survivor 50 won’t hit TV screens until 2026, and the full cast for the season before it (Survivor 49) has yet to be revealed, host and showrunner Jeff Probst announced the Survivor 50 cast on Wednesday’s episode of CBS Mornings. The supersized cast of 24 people marks the biggest group of contestants yet, and features players going all the way back to season 1’s “Survivor: Borneo”.

The trial run of McDonald’s beverage-focused standalone outlets is coming to an end. The company will close all CosMc’s locations in the coming weeks. CosMc’s Featured Expanded Beverage Menu, including coffee, frappes, specialty teas and juices, plus quick bites, to compete with the popularity of new drink choices served up at places like Starbucks and Dunkin’. But by mid-June all remaining locations will be shuttered, although the company did say that some of the specialty drinks that were exclusive to CosMc’s will appear on McDonald’s menus in the near future.

Mattel is opening a theme park in Phoenix. The grand opening is expected for late 2025.
Good news for coffee lovers: your daily brew might be doing more than just waking you up. A new long-term study suggests that women who drink 1-3 cups of caffeinated coffee daily in midlife have a higher chance of aging healthily – that means reaching their 70s free of major chronic diseases, and with good physical, mental, and cognitive health. Interestingly, this benefit was specific to caffeinated coffee; decaf coffee, tea, and sodas didn’t show the same effect. So, while coffee isn’t a magic bullet, it could be a helpful part of a healthy lifestyle.

WEIRD NEWS
A bank in Mexico has been heavily criticized after requiring a 96-year-old woman, who is bedridden due to age and multiple illnesses, to appear in person at a bank branch to verify her identity, in order to receive her pension. In a video and pics that were shared on social media, the woman is seen being transported via ambulance on a bed to visit the BBVA branch in Oaxaca. Her family had submitted the necessary documents, but the bank required her to appear in person to fix a problem with biometric registration that had prevented her from receiving her pension for 6 months. The woman’s daughter said that the woman’s facial features do not match what the bank has on record because her 96-year-old mother “has changed physically; who doesn’t change after so many years?”
