Show Notes for Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, 2025

Today we visit with L.A. based writer/director James Sunshine, known for producing reality TV shows like Big Brother and Hell’s Kitchen.

He has a new film out now. Killing Mary Sue is a genre-bending action thriller that follows a corrupt senator plotting to eliminate his stepdaughter—only for her to uncover a lethal, almost supernatural knack for survival. Starring Sierra McCormick (American Horror Stories, The Vast of Night), Dermot Mulroney, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Martin Kove, this one’s got edge, attitude, and a killer cast.

WEIRD NEWS

The latest viral trend, “freeze branding,” has health experts seriously concerned. Inspired by livestock marking, it involves pressing a freezing metal brand—cooled with liquid nitrogen—onto human skin to create a permanent design. Dermatologist Dr. Andrea Suarez (aka Dr. Dray on TikTok) is urging people not to try it, warning that “you are not a horse.” While it’s relatively safe for animals, on humans it can cause full-thickness burns and lead to serious infections like cellulitis, which can result in sepsis or even bone inflammation if untreated.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

According to a survey, the average man has 11 of these, and the average woman has 5. What is it?
