A study with 503 participants during the pandemic found that people with a higher playfulness trait managed stress better. They were more creative, optimistic, and found joy in everyday tasks—even under lockdown. Researchers say playfulness isn’t just innate—it can be cultivated.

DID YA KNOW!?
Most maps of the world are wrong. On most maps, the Mercator projection – first developed in 1569 – is still used. This method is wildly inaccurate and makes Alaska appear as large as Brazil and Greenland 14 times larger than it actually is. For a map to be completely accurate, it would need to be life-size and round, not flat.

WARNING: MAY IGNORE ALL WARNINGS:
Why do some people keep making bad choices—even when they know better? A new international study might have the answer. Researchers followed 267 people through a game designed to test how we respond to punishment. What they found? Not all brains learn from mistakes the same way. And it can’t be explained by attributing it to simple stubbornness. The researchers say that 3 distinct personality types emerged:
• Sensitive: Those who quickly change behavior after experiencing negative consequences.
• Unaware: They don’t learn from experience alone, but adjust once they’re told exactly what’s wrong.
• Compulsive: These people understand the consequences and how to avoid them – yet keep right on making the same bad choices.
The “Compulsive” group is the most puzzling: they knew what they were doing would hurt, but couldn’t stop. Researchers say this isn’t about willpower, but deep cognitive differences. And even 6 months later, most people stayed in their original category. So next time someone keeps messing up, it might not be that they don’t care – it could be that their brain just works differently.

Kraft Mac & Cheese is combining two comfort food classics in one box with the release of its new limited-edition Pizza flavor, if you can believe it. Hitting shelves just in time for back-to-school season, the new variety blends Kraft’s signature creamy noodles with bold tomato, garlic, and Italian herb flavors reminiscent of a classic pizza slice. Following previous launches like Everything Bagel and Smoky Barbecue, this latest twist adds a nostalgic, savory kick to the iconic blue box. Early tasters say the pizza-inspired mac delivers on both aroma and flavor—making it a must-try for fans of cheesy, carb-filled comfort food.

THE LIST
MOVIES THAT ARE BETTER THAN THE BOOK:
➢ Jurassic Park: Michael Crichton’s novel was thrilling, but Spielberg’s 1993 film perfected it — tighter storytelling, unforgettable characters, and endlessly quotable lines (Such as Jeff Goldblum’s “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”) Add in groundbreaking practical effects (hello, animatronic T. rex) and you’ve got a cinematic masterpiece that still roars today.
➢ The Talented Mr. Ripley: Patricia Highsmith’s novel is slow-burn psychological suspense, but the 1999 film starring Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow is sleeker, more suspenseful, and emotionally intense. With bolder takes on Ripley’s psychology and a shocking ending, the movie enhances the original’s intrigue and depth.
➢ Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy: Le CarrĂ©’s novel is brilliant, but the 2011 film starring adds elegance and focus, with Gary Oldman delivering a career-defining performance. Visually stunning and expertly paced, it captures the cold war’s mood better than words ever could.
➢ The Devil Wears Prada: The movie sharpens the book’s workplace drama with a smarter script and a knockout cast led by Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. It trades romance for ambition and career realism—and suddenly, cerulean is cultural canon.
➢ The Social Network: David Fincher turned a shaky nonfiction book into a razor-sharp character study of tech ambition and isolation starring Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg. It’s a better story precisely because it doesn’t care about the facts—and that’s the point.
➢ Clear and Present Danger: Tom Clancy’s doorstop of a novel gets trimmed into a fast-paced thriller with Harrison Ford as the moral compass in a sea of corruption. Less military jargon, more political drama — plus, a memo duel for the ages!
