SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
So, it turns out your body has a built-in beat—and it might help ease your pain. Researchers at Montreal’s McGill University found that music played at the same tempo as your natural internal rhythm (called your “spontaneous production rate”) can actually reduce pain. Dr. Mathieu Roy, who led the study, says the idea was simple: match music to your body’s pace, and it might have a pain-relieving effect. And it worked. This could be big news for the estimated 1 in 5 people who live with chronic pain. Roy’s lab is also exploring other non-drug options, like exercise, mindset — and even distractions — because if you can believe it, playing chess might help, if you love the game! The next steps? Understanding how this all works biologically — then figuring out the best way to bring “music as medicine” to more people. In some cases, it could be as easy as starting up your favorite playlist.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is getting back into slayer mode. She’s set to reprise her role of ‘Buffy Summers’ in the pilot of the new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot, and shared a video where she’s seen working out alongside Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the star of the Hulu pilot. Her caption: “Warrior 1 and 2. We don’t sweat … we sparkle.” The clip was soundtracked by Scandal’s 1984 hit ‘The Warrior’, of course. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/567uktfx

DID YA KNOW!?
Chainsaws were first invented for childbirth. It was developed in Scotland in the late 18th Century to help aid and speed up the process of symphysiotomy (widening the pubic cartilage) and removal of disease-laden bone during childbirth. It wasn’t until the start of the 20th Century that we started using chainsaws for woodchopping.

OF THE DAY
A new reports says the most-watched cable program of July 2025 was Fox News.
Last week, Kim Kardashian dropped a new Skims product: a $48 Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap that looks part spa treatment, part Hannibal Lecter. It sold out almost instantly. Designed to be worn while sleeping or lounging, the wrap promises to smooth and tighten your face without surgery, using buzzwords like “collagen yarn.” But plastic surgeons aren’t convinced, warning that compression alone won’t deliver lasting results. And the new product didn’t get by Hannibal’s keen eye: On Thursday, actor Anthony Hopkins posted a video on Instagram, sporting the new face wrap, and saying in Lecter’s eerie voice: “Hello Kim, I’m already feeling 10 years younger.” He captioned his post: “Don’t be afraid to come over for dinner.”

WEIRD NEWS
A clever team in China called HTX Studio has taken trash disposal from mundane to mind-blowing. They built robotic trash cans with cameras and motors that track flying garbage in real time — and then move to catch your off-kilter throw in mid-air. And once full, the bins can empty themselves automatically. These aren’t your average waste cans, but sleek, self-aiming units engineered to intercept tossed items and handle bag replacement autonomously. It’s playful, futuristic, and genuinely practical. Though still in prototype mode, this could be the most entertaining solution for messy spaces yet. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdehpsjm
