Guys, if you want to be successful in your use of dating apps…you’ve at least got to try! A new report from the relationship app Feeld suggests that millennial men aren’t putting enough effort into their dating profiles, adding to what some call a wider “dating crisis.” Based on habits from over 2,500 users, the report shows nearly 7 in 10 straight men rarely update their profiles, leading to outdated photos, minimal bios — and low engagement. In addition, men are more likely to never complete their “About” section. Experts say this reflects emotional disengagement, not a lack of interest in partnership, and contributes to growing frustration among women who are investing more effort. With shifting cultural norms, rising expectations, and the overwhelming nature of dating apps, researchers argue the real issue isn’t missing chemistry — it’s missing effort.

“Wicked: For Good” and “Sinners” lead the list of films shortlisted in 12 Oscar categories, making them the only feature films this year to make every list in which they were eligible – 7 – including Best Song, where both films have 2 entries each among the final 15 hopefuls. “Frankenstein” was close behind with 6, also landing in every nearly all the lists that it could have; it didn’t have an original song.

New York’s Elmira College has announced it’ll offer courses on the science of marijuana.
A Swedish YouTuber spent 6 months teaching an octopus to play the piano in what he calls both the “worst” and “coolest” project of his life. Musician Mattias Krantz documented the effort in a video showing how he trained an octopus named Takoyaki to press keys on a custom-built keyboard. After months spent earning the animal’s trust, progress stalled until he introduced a food-based reward system that dispensed a crab for each note played. The octopus eventually managed simple note patterns, including an off-tempo version of ‘Baby Shark’. Krantz said he and Tako play together about every other day.

An 86-year-old Englishman has been fined £250 ($335) for littering…after spitting out a leaf that blew into his mouth, sparking backlash over heavy-handed enforcement. Roy Marsh was resting in a parking lot in the seaside town of Skegness when a gust of wind blew a large reed into his mouth, he told the BBC. When he spat it out and began to leave, 2 enforcement officers accused him of littering –and issued a fine. Marsh called the penalty unnecessary and out of proportion. Though the fine may be reduced on appeal, he was still required to pay the full amount.
