The home is the most common place to cry, according to a survey of adults. 89% of respondents said they have cried there. Funerals came second (75%), followed by their car (62%), a movie theater (42%), school (38%), a place of worship (37%), and their workplace (35%).

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

In its latest trailer, “Fantastic Four: First Steps” teases a possible new addition to Marvel’s First Family. Ahead of its theatrical release July 25, Marvel Studios released the trailer Thursday, after it debuted earlier this month at CinemaCon. Director Matt Shakman’s feature offers a new take on the superhero quartet who made their first comic book appearance in 1961. The ‘First Steps’ trailer shows Pedro Pascal’s ‘Mr. Fantastic’ and Vanessa Kirby’s ‘Invisible Woman’ learn that they are expecting a baby, to which she reponds: “We can do this.” The hero family faces threats from ‘Galactus’ but are determined to stay united, even as the public begins to lose faith in them. Toward the end of the clip, Julia Garner’s ‘Silver Surfer’ glides across the screen to offer a warning. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/568sa5h3

Dave Coulier has revealed he was hospitalized with a life-threatening cold in the final days of his cancer treatment. The “Full House” star, who was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October, explained on his former castmates Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber’s podcast that he had caught a cold while his immune system was weakened. The 65-year-old said he could not “get out of bed for 10 days” when finally, his wife forced him to see a doctor, and he ended up in hospital on an antibiotics IV for 4 days. Eventually it was discovered he had rhinovirus, and doctors told him that they could have “lost” the actor if he had “waited another 48 hours”.

SCOOP OF THE DAY

A survey claims that 90% of Americans own a smartphone.

Scientists say they’ve come up with a new compound that provides the pain-relieving properties of cannabis — without the mind-bending side effects. The research team from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and Stanford University developed the compound that mimics a natural molecule found in the cannabis plant, in their quest to find a safe alternative painkiller to opioids. In tests on mice, it was found to provide the same pain-relieving properties of cannabis without causing addiction or mind-altering side effects. Further research is needed, but the compound shows “promise” as a non-addictive pain reliever.
