THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!
Dear John,
At Easter my adult son introduced us to his new girlfriend. She's very nice. But throughout the entire day the two couldn't keep their hands off each other. At one point while we were at grandpa's house, they were sitting on the couch in the living room grabbing all over each other. I get new relationships and showing each other affection but this seemed unnecessary, especially at my dad's house. Grandpa was also very surprised at what he was seeing too. I'm thinking I need to say something to him to prevent the same thing from happening at future events, whether it's with this girl or someone else, but I am worried that if I say something though he may just decide to not show up at family events anymore. What are your thoughts? Should I say something or not?
Signed – Embarrassed Mom

SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
A new poll of texters found that although 90% use abbreviations regularly in their daily messages, doing so can make the recipient feel as though you’re brushing them off. If the sender shortens their words down to just the consonants, writing something like “Thx”, or uses other short forms rather than the full words, those on the receiving end see a lack of effort being put in — and tend to disengage from the conversation. Even using short forms in messages between close friends or a romantic partner tend to make the recipient feel “a little put off”, according to the study. The researchers noted: “That sense of disappointment chipped away at how authentic the interaction felt.”
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
Jimmy Fallon is bringing his love for marketing to a new unscripted series at NBC. The network has given a green light to “On Brand with Jimmy Fallon.” Hosted, executive produced and created by Fallon, On Brand follows the “Tonight Show” host as he starts a marketing agency “and fills it with the most creative, clever, and competitive go-getters he can find.” The series will be based on Fallon’s experience and expertise working with his own global partnerships in the auto, insurance, apparel, gaming and technology industries. It’s set for premiere later this year.
FX has set Wednesday, July 9 for the Season 17 premiere of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.” The season will launch with the first 2 episodes beginning at 9pm on FXX, with episodes streaming next day on Hulu. They also steal kids’ brownies. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2rwxf4jk
DID YA KNOW!?
Did you know lobsters have clear blood? Many of us know that lobster shells change color when they’re exposed to heat but only a few people know that the sea creature’s blood is also intriguing! Lobster blood is initially clear and turns blue when it hits oxygen.

WEIRD NEWS
Texas mom charged with injury to a child for giving spiked Jell-O shots to 5th-graders. All parents make mistakes, but one mother’s horrific error in judgment has people wondering how someone could be such an “idiot.” Teresa Isabel Bernal, 33, was arrested after bringing Jell-O shots to a school Christmas party involving fifth graders. While the wisdom of bringing anything mimicking an alcoholic treat to a child’s gathering is questionable enough, Bernal claims she didn’t realize they actually contained alcohol. She was arrested on Monday and charged with injury to a child after several children fell ill and said they experienced “stomach aches and headaches.” According to the affidavit, one child even “passed out” from the drink. https://americanwirenews.com/
