Doctors often rely on a quick visual assessment — the so-called “eyeball test” — to judge whether a patient looks older or younger than their age, which can help them decide on treatment. But a new tool called FaceAge could soon give that snap judgment a scientific boost. FaceAge is an AI algorithm that analyzes a simple headshot to estimate a person’s biological age – not their actual age. Trained on tens of thousands of photos, it found that cancer patients appeared about 5 years older than their healthy peers. The tool could help doctors decide how aggressively to treat patients, by identifying those who might tolerate intensive care versus those who may need a gentler approach. FaceAge was tested on more than 6,000 patients and showed a strong link between higher biological age and poorer survival rates. And it improved doctors’ ability to predict patient outcomes.

Jennifer Lopez suffered a gnarly facial injury while rehearsing for the 2025 American Music Awards, which she’s hosting on May 26. She shared a photo on her Instagram Stories of her icing her injured nose, and wrote: “So this happened…” In the next slide, J-Lo showed off a cut on her nose, and explained that it occurred: “During @amas rehearsals.” A third post featured Lopez posing with Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jason B. A “Wicked” live musical performance is set to arrive on NBC later this year, with stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo performing songs from the hit musical and film. Other castmates will also appear, although it’s unclear which, or whether they’ll be performing other content from the Wicked musical. The special event is set to take place ahead of the November 21 premiere of “Wicked: For Good”, the sequel to last year’s Wicked.
Netflix is adding to its growing lineup of competition shows by rebooting “Star Search”, the old Ed McMahon-hosted talent show that was in syndication from 1983-95. The new version will spotlight performers in music, dance and variety/comedy. Kids will also be able to compete. Episodes will air twice weekly, with each live stream to include voting that will let the viewers determine which contestants move forward.

A team of Purdue University students built a robot that can solve a Rubik’s cube in a record-breaking .103 seconds. The group of students at Purdue’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in West Lafayette IN met through a co-op program and got together to design their puzzle-solving bot, which they dubbed “Purdubik’s Cube.” In an article, one team member pointed out that while their machine can solve the puzzle in 103 milliseconds, “a human blink takes about 200 to 300 milliseconds.
