THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!
Dear John,
My wife had an affair ten years ago that nearly destroyed our marriage. We had two very young daughters but we were able to save the marriage. I know we made the right choice, after several years of counseling, I feel like I have the family that I've always dreamed of, but just last week, my wife shared a social media message from her former boss, the guy who she hooked up with a decade ago. He's in hospice dying. She has not worked with him for a decade, I didn't even know they were connected on Facebook, I kinda thought that would have been a no-brainier. When I asked her about it, she said he sent her a message telling her how sorry he was for the indiscretion at work all those years ago. He said most of the people they worked with back then are no longer his friends. He wanted her to let them all know he is in hospice. She said he's divorced and all alone. I feel bad for the guy, but I also completely understand why his wife left him. I reminded my wife that we could have easily been in that exact same place, all because of the indiscretion, as he put it. I told her to just unfriend him and move on. She feels like I'm being cold-hearted. I think I'm being completely within the realm of reality! Why should she jeopardize our relationship for this guy? Am I wrong?

SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
The best way to manage your weight long-term is to simply keep a regular eating schedule, says a new study. Researchers from the University of Helsinki found that dieting and irregular eating habits actually increased a person’s likelihood of gaining weight. In their study of data from over 4,900 men and women as they aged between 24 and 34, the authors found the vast majority of people gained weight. Factors affecting weight gain varied, but for both genders, dieting and irregular eating habits were prominent factors. The team said in its conclusion: “Often, people try to prevent and manage excess weight and obesity by dieting and skipping meals.”
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
George Lucas has explained why Yoda has such an odd speaking pattern. While at the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival for a 45th anniversary screening of “The Empire Strikes Back”, the question was put to the filmmaker: “Why does Yoda speak backwards?” This was his response: “Because if you speak regular English, people won’t listen that much.” The Star Wars creator elaborated, saying that he “had to figure out a way to get people to actually listen” to the character’s words – “especially 12-year-olds.”
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” wants fans to do the time warp again for its 50th anniversary. The musical cult classic’s half-century milestone will be celebrated with a new 4K Ultra remaster that will be released in theaters and on Blu-ray later this year. Released in 1975, the movie stars Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon as a newly engaged couple whose car breaks down, and seek help at the castle of gender-bending ‘Dr. Frank-N-Furter’, played by Tim Curry. Since then, the movie has become famous for its midnight showings and audience participation.
DID YA KNOW!?
Did you know grapes light on fire in the microwave? In 2011, a physicist at the University of Sydney went viral after he placed a grape in the microwave, filmed the blazing results, and stumped scientists until 2019! Published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, it was reported that the spontaneous combustion of grapes occurs as a result of the loose electrons and ions that cluster to form plasma when the fruit gets hot.

OK, this has become too big of a story to ignore any longer. I’m talking about, of course, the Internet's new obsession with the question that is lighting up social feeds everywhere: Who wins in a fight — 100 people or one gorilla? Now, at first glance, you’re probably thinking: “Easy. With 100 humans, that gorilla is toast.” But slow your scroll — because we’re seriously underestimating just how insanely strong one gorilla is. To settle the matter, the youth culture site “The Tab” called in an expert: Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka, a renowned Ugandan conservationist and CEO of CTPH. Her verdict? “The men wouldn’t stand a chance.” Dr. Gladys said that gorillas are 5 times stronger than the average human. And while they’re generally gentle giants, if you dare poke the bear — er, gorilla — things get ugly fast. Especially with wild gorillas unaccustomed to humans, it’s less “Planet of the Apes” and more “run for your life.” Long story short: Dr. Kalema says she’d put her money on the gorilla.

WEIRD NEWS
At this year’s London Marathon, the startup Peequal collected urine from female runners at the starting line, using specially designed female port-a-potties. Why just the women’s toilets? Because Peequal was founded to tackle a very real race-day issue: incredibly long lines for ladies. Their speedy toilet design slashes wait time by a whopping 270% — and the bonus? All that collected pee will be turned into…fertilizer. The company says that just 1,000 liters of “marathon pee” could fertilize enough wheat to bake 3,000 loaves of bread. Their tech treats the urine using bacteria, transforming it into plant-friendly nutrients like nitrogen and urea. NPK Recovery founder Hannah Vandenbergh, whose organization was also involved in the project, pointed out that with 53,000 runners each year, that’s a lot of untapped… potential.
