SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
A study published in Personality and Individual Differences found that people who rely on background sound, such as a fan, in order to sleep, tend to be more hyper-aware of their surroundings, easily overstimulated in busy or unpredictable environments, and more prone to racing thoughts or sensory overload – especially at night. The researchers believe these people often have a highly sensitive nervous system that struggles to “switch off” in silence – and found that the steady hum of white noise or a fan helps reduce internal alertness by masking small, sounds — like footsteps, creaks, or conversations — that would otherwise keep the brain on high alert.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
Francis Ford Coppola bought and renovated an old Days Inn in Peachtree City GA, with an eye toward building a unique space: a welcoming place to stay for people who are making movies in the area — or just for the people who love them (movies, that is). The All-Movie Hotel, which negotiates special rates for productions, is designed to be the home away from home for some of the non-local cast and crew working on these projects. For others, prices begin at $180 a night, and go up to $420 for the Francis Ford Coppola Suite, which includes a giant cinema screen and projector, velvet upholstered director’s chairs.
Fox is rebooting NBC’s iconic competition series “Fear Factor” — but will it include the show’s iconic host, Joe Rogan? The original “Fear Factor” aired on NBC from 2001 to 2006 with Rogan as its original host, then again from 2011-2012. Fox said: “he’s (a) major talent tied to the show, but it’s too early…to say” if he’ll be back. Fox also picked up another former NBC series for its 2025-2026 schedule: The Jane Lynch-hosted “Weakest Link.”
DID YA KNOW!?
Your brain burns 400-500 calories a day. That’s about a fifth of your total energy requirements. Most of this is concerned with the largely automatic process of controlling your muscles and processing sensory input, although some studies show solving tricky problems increases your brain's metabolic requirements.

OF THE DAY
I just read that billions of years from now, Earth will have a 30-hour day, due to the interplay of gravity between Earth and moon.
The world’s first mass-produced flying car, the AirCar, has just been unveiled by Slovakia’s Klein Vision. Revealed at the 2025 Living Legends of Aviation Gala, where even Prince Harry got a look, the AirCar can switch from car to plane in under 2 minutes. It has already clocked over 170 flight hours and more than 500 takeoffs and landings, with a Certificate of Airworthiness in hand. Expected to cost $750-940K, the first models, with a top speed of 120mph (193kph), should be available in early 2026. Klein Vision’s founder, Stefan Klein, calls it a dream come true — blending road and sky into a new kind of travel.

WEIRD NEWS
Simon Cowell turned down $150,000 to judge a couple’s sex life. The music mogul says he was enjoying a meal in a restaurant when a man approached him, introduced his wife, and asked for a picture. After telling Cowell “I love your show”, the man got right to the point, asking: “Would you judge us having sex?” At first, Cowell thought the man was joking, but after being offered $150,000, he briefly considered accepting the offer, before thinking to himself: “Do I? No, I just can’t do it.” He called the incident “so bizarre”.
