SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Not everyone wakes up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. In fact, 2 in 5 Americans say they’re just plain bad at mornings. A new survey found 38% of people admit they get out of bed later than planned—an average of 8 times a month. For some (about 1 in 10), that happens more than 20 times a month(!). When mornings do go sideways, breakfast is the first thing to get skipped (41%). But hygiene isn’t far behind—16% skip showering, and 11% skip brushing their teeth. Yuck. And here’s the kicker: less than half (43%) of Americans use an alarm to wake up. Among those who do, the first alarm typically rings at 6:33am — though Gen Z and millennials are much more likely to set an alarm than boomers are. Alarm users average 2 alarms per morning before they manage to get their bones moving, and about 1 in 5 will hit snooze at least 3 times. So yes, that “5 more minutes” routine? It’s a lifestyle.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Entrepreneur and multi-hyphenate pop culture icon Paris Hilton, with her next-gen media company 11:11 Media, has announced “Infinite Icon,” a feature concert documentary set for theatrical release in early 2026. The film will tell the story of the making of her second album, “Infinite Icon,” and the role music has played in her life journey.

Sydney Sweeney is sharing the transformation and preparation that went into portraying pioneering female boxer Christy Martin in a new biopic set for release this year. Sweeney gained more than 30 pounds to play Martin, who put female boxing on the map in the ’90s, covered Sports Illustrated and fought on Mike Tyson’s undercard. Sweeney said she “loved” her 3 months of training, in which she “weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about 2 hours, then weight-trained again at night for an hour.” The as-yet untitled biopic follows Martin’s rise to fame and the abuse she faced at the hands of her then-husband, who attempted to murder her.

It is still early days for DC Studios and James Gunn’s plans to reboot its cinematic universe, and now, he has revealed that moves are being made for ‘Wonder Woman’ to eventually be a part of it. In a recent interview, the director said that a new Wonder Woman film is “being written right now,” alongside an already-announced HBO series “Paradise Island,” which will focus on the superhero’s homeland of Themyscira. Wonder Woman made her big-screen debut in 2017, with Gal Gadot in the title role.

DID YA KNOW!?

Recent grads say it’s more “anxiety-inducing” to negotiate their salary with an employer than it is to break up with a partner. A survey of 2,000 higher education graduates (from 2024 and 2025) gave respondents several scenarios, asking which would be more stressful. Results revealed that 54% believe negotiating their salary with a potential employer is worse than breaking up with a partner (39%). Recent graduates’ top worries, in order, were: “Getting a job in my sector/field”, “Paying off my student debt”, and “Paying my bills every month”

JOKE OF THE DAY

SCOOP OF THE DAY

A survey says that 5% of people say that they like to eat mac & cheese after a bad day.

It turns out your brain doesn’t love extremes when it comes to exercise. A new study suggests that working out too little or too much might actually age your brain faster. Chinese researchers looked at brain scans and found that moderate exercise was linked to better brain health, while couch potatoes and overachievers alike showed signs of accelerated brain aging. So, skipping the gym entirely or treating every day like a triathlon? Neither is great for your noggin. The sweet spot? Somewhere in the middle—just enough movement to keep your brain young — without burning it out.

WEIRD NEWS

UK DIY store B&Q has issued an apology after a bathroom cabinet listed on its website was described as “easy to assemble even if you’re a girl.” B&Q quickly removed the listing, blamed it on a third-party seller, and said it regrets any offence caused. The incident is especially awkward timing for the retailer, which recently launched a campaign called “Do The Lift Thing” to highlight and support women in trades.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
