SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Millennial moms (those between 27-43) are seriously pressed for time. A new survey found that nearly a third of them get less than 30 minutes to themselves each day – and often, they forget what day it is. Life’s a constant juggling act for these moms, and some things — like eating — tend to get pushed aside. The Talker Research poll found that half of moms can’t remember the last time they didn’t feel rushed through a meal. Instead, they said, they’re squeezing in bites while driving, doing chores, cooking, or wrangling their kids. Many eat on the go or while standing – some of them every day. Snacks are their survival fuel, stashed in purses, glove compartments, diaper bags, and even bedside tables for those late-night cravings. It’s not ideal, but that’s real life for a lot of moms. When asked about some of the more unusual places they’ve snacked, survey respondents shared that they’ve enjoyed a snack in “the shower,” “on the treadmill” and while in church.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

The first proper teaser for “Wicked: For Good” has arrived, and the characters are looking a lot different than they did when we first met them in Part 1. The clip opens with Cynthia Erivo fiercely staring down the camera, her hair down and outfit changed into a spookier black dress to show how her character, ‘Elphaba’, has fully embraced the role of ‘Wicked Witch of the West’. On the flip side, Ariana Grande — who is the last to appear in the teaser — swapped her Shiz University uniform and pink bubble dress from the first Wicked film for a multi-colored ballgown and tiara, signifying how her character, ‘Glinda’, has leveled up as the people’s princess of Oz. Clint Eastwood has no plans to stop making movies. After industry insiders speculated that the legendary Hollywood star was planning to retire after directing last year’s legal thriller “Juror #2”, Eastwood, who turned 95 on Saturday, said: “There’s no reason why a man can’t get better with age.” He also pointed out that he has “much more experience” now than he used to, and while there are some “directors who lose their touch at a certain age…I’m not one of them.”

The Savannah Bananas are heading to broadcast TV. The viral baseball sensation will make their broadcast debut on July 27 on the CW, playing their unique brand of “Banana Ball” at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 40,000. If you’ve never seen a Savannah Bananas game, you’re missing out. Clad in their bright yellow uniforms, the exhibition team combines baseball with stunts, fan participation and fast-paced games. It’s not unusual for players to catch balls in the middle of a backflip, or for the entire team to break out into line dancing.

DID YA KNOW!?

If that “AI summary” that you see at the top of the page after entering a Google query is irritating to you, there’s a way to avoid it. Simply including the “F-word” to your Google search term disables the unwanted AI summary at the top of the results page. If that’s too NSFW for you, you can also add “-ai”, which will achieve the same thing.

JOKE OF THE DAY

SCOOP OF THE DAY

For the first time ever, more than 90% of all senior citizens in the US are using the Internet.

This may come as no surprise to you, but Gen Z does not shop for groceries in the same way their parents did. Instead of filling carts with fresh meat and produce like older generations, Gen Z is all about speed and convenience — think frozen meals, dairy, and anything you can grab and go. That’s according to NielsenIQ’s Colleen McGinnis, who explained at a recent industry event that fresh food just doesn’t have the same pull for those born between 1997-2012. They want minimal prep and maximum ease—and they’re shopping more often because of it. In fact, Gen Z is 41% more likely to hit the store more than NINE times a week. But don’t expect them to have a list or a meal plan; they usually decide what to buy once they’re at the store. They’re also super versatile — splitting their shopping between in-store and online more than any other generation (of course). Add in apps like Uber Eats, auto-ship grocery services, and fast food, and it’s clear: for Gen Z, convenience is king. Interestingly, many Gen Zers see grocery shopping as a flex – something that’s worth splurging on – even more than travel or dining out.

WEIRD NEWS

Around the world, it’s becoming trendy to give children unusual, unique names. And in Japan, names like Nike, Pikachu and Pudding have grown in popularity as some parents look to stand out from tradition with unique and unusual choices — until now. Starting this week, new government rules are limiting how creatively names can be pronounced. The goal? To reduce confusion for schools, hospitals, and public services that struggle with names that sound nothing like they’re written. The new rules have sparked online debate, with some feeling that it’s government overreach. One person posted: “They’re not children of the nation—they’re children of their parents.” Others argue the names can lead to bullying or make things like banking and ID registration unnecessarily complicated.
