THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

I have to get rid of my husband. Actually, I need to get him out of our bedroom because he stays up late, sleeps restlessly, and snores. It’s driving me crazy and ruining my life during the day because wake up constantly all night. I need a “sleep divorce.” The problem is, if I bring it up, he’s going to freak out and think I don’t want to be around him. That’s not it at all, but he’s making my life miserable. What do I do? Are there other solutions?

SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Workdays aren’t just long anymore — they feel endless. According to new research from Microsoft, workers experiencing what they call an “infinite workday”, juggling a nonstop stream of meetings, messages, and interruptions that stretch well beyond the traditional 9-to-5. Evening meetings — especially those after 8pm — are up 16% from last year, thanks to remote teams and “flexible” hours. During a typical workday, employees are interrupted 275 times — that’s every 2 minutes — and the pings don’t stop after hours. The average employee sent or received 58 instant messages outside of their core working hours – and by 10pm, nearly a third of workers are back in their inboxes. And don’t forget the average of 117 daily emails and dozens of after-hours chats. The result? One in 3 workers say they simply can’t keep up. Microsoft compares it to assembling a bike before every ride — all effort, no momentum. The report concluded by noting: “The modern workday for many has no clear start or finish (and) time once reserved for focus or recovery may now be spent catching up, prepping, and chasing clarity”.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Brad Pitt has confirmed he’ll be reprising his role as ‘Cliff Booth’ from “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” in a new film for Netflix. Pitt starred as the stuntman for Leonardo DiCaprio’s alter ego, faded Western star ‘Rick Dalton’, in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 comedy-drama which is set in Los Angeles in 1969, as the Manson Family murders loom. He’ll be back as Booth for the new movie which was written by Tarantino, but will be directed by “Zodiac” filmmaker David Fincher. Shooting starts next month.

Johnny Knoxville, known for his outrageous stunts on “Jackass”, has signed on to host “Fear Factor: The Next Chapter” for Fox. The show will feature strangers facing mind-blowing stunts and social strategy challenges in a remote location. Casting is open for participants from the U.S. and Canada aged 18 and up. Knoxville’s fearless entertainment style makes him a good fit for the show, set to premiere in Fox’s 2025-2026 season.

The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation has named actor/producer Kate Hudson its 2025 Pioneer of the Year. She’ll be the guest of honor at the foundation’s annual fundraising dinner at the Beverly Hilton on October 8. Lisa Bunnell, the President of Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, said: “Kate Hudson’s influence extends beyond her outstanding contributions to the motion picture business. Her commitment to philanthropy and social causes inspires audiences everywhere to be active in their communities and support each other in times of need.”

DID YA KNOW!?

Could Beethoven’s Fifth be used to treat cancer? Scientists in Brazil once found a mind-blowing connection between music and cancer treatment. A research team exposed both healthy and cancerous cell cultures to different styles of music. When played Beethoven’s ‘Symphony No. 5’, nearly 20% of the cancerous cells were wiped out within a few days, while healthy cells remained completely untouched. Oddly, Mozart’s famously structured ‘Sonata for Two Pianos’ had no noticeable impact at all. The researchers are unsure what’s causing the positive effects, but suspect it is related to specific audio frequencies, rhythmic patterns, or even how the cells physically vibrate in response to the sound.

SCOOP OF THE DAY

A study found that nearly 70% of gamers will miss sleep in order to keep playing their game.

With many areas dealing with a serious heat wave this week, you might be thinking that the best way to start the day might be with a nice, cold shower. Or, maybe you’d prefer to END the day with one. Well, bad idea, according to an expert. Adam Taylor, a Professor of Anatomy at Lancaster University, warns that dousing ourselves in cold water constricts blood vessels near the skin, thus trapping heat inside. A cold shower or an ice bath could even trigger a dangerous “cold shock” response, especially in those with heart conditions. And if you’re considering a hot shower, maybe just for the feeling of relief when you’re done – don’t be that guy (or girl) — they just add heat. Instead, it’s best to go for a lukewarm shower (around 26°C or 79°F). That brings blood to the surface to cool, and helps clean away sweat and bacteria. If you must go with cold water, ease in gradually to avoid shocking your system.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

If you have a favorite quote.... you can send it to us at the bottom of the page at JohnAndHeidiShow.com

“It’s a shame that the only thing a man can do for eight hours a day is work. He can’t eat for eight hours; he can’t drink for eight hours; he can’t make love for eight hours. The only thing a man can do for eight hours is work.” — William Faulkner

WEIRD NEWS

What you do in the shower is your business… but maybe skip the pee break. A viral TikTok sparked debate after a healthcare expert warned that peeing while standing in the shower — especially for women — can mess with your bladder and pelvic floor. Apparently, doing it regularly trains your body to associate running water with the need to go, potentially leading to leakage. Not great. Experts also say standing isn’t great for men, either — it puts pressure on the spine and pelvis, and can increase prostate issues. So yes, even your shower multitasking might be working against you. So, sit down. Your bladder will thank you. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3skcfvkw
