THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!
Dear John,
I'm in love with my best friend. I haven’t told him because he had a girlfriend. They were together for 4 years, so I wasn’t going to mess with that. But he’s single now, and I know why. Every time he starts dating someone new, I get a message to them that we’re together, and they would be a side chick. I’m planning to tell him my feelings, but have to find the right time, but I am the reason he doesn’t ever get a 2nd or 3rd date. I don't think I can ever tell him I’ve been doing this, ever. Am I a horrible person? I've loved him for years but I have not known how to tell him! What do I do?
Signed – Hopelessly In Love

SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Teens might finally have a perfect excuse to hit that snooze button — but only for a little while. A new study says sleeping in up to 2 extra hours on the weekend can actually help reduce anxiety. But any MORE than 2 hours and it could do more harm than good, messing with their internal clock and making the week ahead even tougher. Researchers tracked nearly 1,900 teens (ages 12-15) using Fitbits and parent surveys, and found that too little or too much weekend sleep was linked to more anxiety. Experts warn that teens are already in a sleep crisis—most only get 6 or 7 hours on school nights, far below the recommended 8-10. The fix? According to the researchers, we should let teens sleep a bit more on weekends – and a later start to school days wouldn’t hurt either.

“Modern Family” actress Julie Bowen recently shared that she’s had a pacemaker since she was 29, due to a condition that makes her heart rate drastically drop. In a recent podcast, she said that she often forgets she even has it. She also shared that she got the disorder thanks to “sick sinus syndrome, Hypervagotonia.” That leads to “sinus node dysfunction,” according to the National Library of Medicine, which “means your heart rate just goes really low.” Bowen said her pacemaker alerts her if her heart goes below 45 beats per minute. The typical resting heart rate for women is 60-100 beats per minute.
Following her 8-year portrayal of resistance leader ‘June Osborne’ on Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”, Elisabeth Moss is moving on to a completely different role. She’ll star in and executive produce “Imperfect Women”, Apple TV+’s upcoming adaptation of Araminta Hall’s 2020 novel. It’s a psychological thriller examining a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of 3 women. No premiere date so far.
Guy Fieri is being sued by Food Network show winner Kevin Cooper. Cooper, who won “Guys’ Chance of a Lifetime” in 2022, for the chance to run one of his own Chicken Guy franchises, is suing the celeb chef for alleged breach of contract. The store opened in February 2024 and closed a year later, and Cooper alleges that his expenses exceeding revenue totaled $69,000, $39,000 of which were Pennsylvania sales taxes. Cooper claims the defendants never paid him those expenses, nor the $100,000 minimum salary he was promised.

Toby Keith helped advance red Solo cups to the next level with his hit ‘Red Solo Cup’ in 2011. But would he approve of a major change to the design of the cup that’s an important part of country music culture? The company that makes Solo Cups, Dart Container, has quietly removed those iconic lines around the cup that started at the bottom and appeared in intervals moving up the cup. College kids and other partygoers have been using those to measure out alcohol for decades. But Dart Container says those lines were never there for measurement purposes. The new redesign dispenses with the lines in favor of braille-like dots that make it easier to grip the cups.

OF THE DAY
A study claims that cats have terrible short-term memories.
The subject of the 4-day workweek hasn’t come up a lot lately. Anyhow, a recent UK trial is giving the 4-day workweek a big thumbs-up. Over 6 months, nearly 1,000 employees across 17 organizations worked one less day a week — without losing pay, or piling on extra work. And guess what? It wasn’t just the workers who loved it. Some companies actually made MORE money and saw FEWER sick days. The London software firm BrandPipe reported a 130% revenue jump, which the CEO calling the trial “an overwhelming success.” Though the data is limited, most participants stuck with the shorter week after the trial ended. Critics say these trials are self-selecting – because companies that want this to work make it work. But supporters believe it’s a growing trend. And one hopeful CEO said: “I think most places will adopt this in the next decade.”

WEIRD NEWS
Guests at a recent wedding in Pinhalzinho, Brazil, were stunned when the bride arrived at the venue in a funeral hearse. But for 33-year-old Daniela Signor, it was the perfect tribute to how she met – and won — the heart of her now-husband: the local undertaker. She first spotted Apollo Scariot in early 2023 while attending a relative’s funeral. Instantly smitten, she quickly realized he was too focused on his duties to notice her. So, she came up with a bold plan: start showing up at local funerals. For nearly 2 years, she quietly attended services in their small town — always hoping for a moment of connection – and even giving family members a sympathetic hug, “just to see him”. Her persistence eventually paid off. The couple began dating, and last month they made their unusual love story official—with vows, rings — and a hearse entrance.

No wonder 80% agree that cooking outside is one of the season’s biggest joys. On average, people say they’ve been looking forward to summer for about 4 months, especially Gen Z, who said they are extra excited to throw backyard parties and soak up every second outdoors. According to the survey, these are the top 8 most iconic sensations of summer . . .
