SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Research shows that men who sleep beside their spouse experience deeper, more restorative sleep. How? Sharing a bed with a loving partner increases levels of oxytocin—the “bonding hormone”—which decreases the stress hormone and promotes calm, steady breathing and heart rate throughout the night. Men also report feeling safer, more relaxed, and emotionally secure when sleeping next to their wife. On the other hand, another study found that women who sleep with their dog experience better sleep quality than those who share a bed with a human partner.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Tom Holland likes his casting rumors shaken, not stirred. Appearing on Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube channel, he acknowledged that “there’s speculation at the minute” about him being tapped to inherit the role of ‘James Bond’. When asked by the host: “Ever thought about using the word James with future movies going forward?”, Holland answered: “We’ll keep it to a minimum for now. We’ll get there one day.” He also said: that for “every young British actor”, the 007 role is “the pinnacle of working in our industry.”

Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” sequel will be split into 2 films, with both parts coming out in 2027. “Part One” is slated for Good Friday, March 26, and “Part Two” set for 40 days later on May 6. “The Resurrection of the Christ” Parts One and Two are Gibson’s follow-ups to his landmark film “The Passion of the Christ,” which until “Deadpool & Wolverine” came along last year, was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time domestically.

“The Thomas Crown Affair” is getting another remake! Michael B. Jordan will star in and direct the new version of the classic crime caper for a new generation. 26 years ago, The Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo was released. And that wasn’t the first time audiences were introduced to Thomas Crown. The heist thriller was a remake of the 1968 original, featuring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Both movies follow Thomas Crown, a wealthy but bored businessman, who entertains himself by committing crimes. The latest Thomas Crown Affair movie has a release date of March 5, 2027.

SCOOP OF THE DAY

According to a survey, the first thing men notice about a woman is their eyes. And the first thing women notice about a man is that they’re a bunch of liars!

A zoo in Denmark has made a wild request: they want you to donate your unwanted pets—not for adoption, but to feed them to their lions and lynxes. Yes, really. Aalborg Zoo is asking for chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, and even small horses to be handed over, so they can be “gently euthanized” and served up as dinner for their predators. Their reasoning? To mimic the “natural food chain.” The Facebook post announcing this came complete with a photo of a snarling lynx, because why not? While some people are praising the zoo for its “naturalistic” approach, others are (understandably) horrified. Deputy director of Aalborg Zoo, Pia Nielsen, said in a statement that the initiative has been in place for years and is common practice in Denmark.

WEIRD NEWS

In a small community room inside a Toronto high-rise, a doctor recently caused a stir by writing prescriptions — but not for pills. These were for air conditioners. As the summer heat continues to scorch the city, Dr. Samantha Green has set up pop-up “A/C clinics,” where she meets with residents, asks questions about their health and living conditions, and — if it makes medical sense — hands them a note that can get them a brand-new air conditioner, covered by social assistance. For those on such programs, the City of Toronto will help pay for a cooling unit, if a doctor says it’s medically necessary. The problem? Most people have no idea that this benefit exists. So, Green decided to bring the clinic to them. The goal is to help vulnerable people stay safe as summer temperatures climb dangerously high. The doc says that heat can make some health conditions worse, and it can be deadly, especially for those with breathing problems or mental health challenges. People living in older, poorly ventilated buildings are especially at risk.

THE LIST

NOW BATTING: TODD BONZALES:

Baseball is known for having some of the most awesome names out there among its players. In the 1990s, a Japanese video game designer needed some American-sounding baseball player names. Here’s what he came up with…

Dean Wesrey, Mike Truk, Tony Smelrik, Bobson Dugnutt, Willie Dustice, Dwigt Rortugal, Todd Bonzales, Steve McDichael, Onson Sweemey, Daryl Archideld, Anatoli Smorin, Rey McSriff, Glenallen Mixon, Mario McRlwain, Jeromy Gride, Scott Dourque, Shown Furcotte.

NOW, here are some bona fide REAL names of MLB players from over the years (and we’re not including those with awesome nicknames, like Coco Crisp, Boog Powell, or Oil Can Boyd)…

❑ Madison Bumgarner – Sturdy, dramatic, sounds like a Civil War general and a mountain.

❑ Clayton Kershaw – Sounds like the lead in a gritty sports biopic.

❑ Max Scherzer – Intense, sharp, almost villainous.

❑ Noah Syndergaard – Biblical + Norse = epic.

❑ Hunter Pence – Sounds like he was born to hit doubles and lead a cavalry charge.

❑ Chase Utley – Has action-hero energy and rom-com charm.

❑ Blake Snell – Clean, modern, cool under pressure.

❑ Dante Bichette – Dashing, almost operatic.

❑ Byron Buxton – Rolls off the tongue with elite energy.

❑ Christian Yelich – Sharp and commanding.

❑ Felix Hernandez – Royalty vibes (which fits his “King Felix” nickname).

❑ Orlando Cabrera – Sounds like he should arrive in a Ferrari and hit a walk-off.

❑ Carlos Beltrán – Regal and classic.

❑ Zack Greinke – Just plain cool.

❑ Xander Bogaerts – Sci-fi energy; could be a Marvel villain or genius shortstop (or both).

❑ Chase Utley – Has action-hero energy and rom-com charm.

Blake Snell – Clean, modern, cool under pressure.
