The saying is that actions speak louder than words — and women seem to agree. A new study in Evolutionary Psychological Science suggests that women value small acts of service, like cooking dinner or doing chores, more than verbal affection, such as saying “I love you,” especially in the early stages of dating. Researchers surveyed over 500 heterosexual adults, comparing reactions to sweet talk (“I miss you”) versus sweet actions (like running errands). Women were found to be more likely to view action-oriented partners as dependable and trustworthy, while men didn’t show as strong a preference — and in some cases leaned toward words. Experts say the difference may reflect how women weigh long-term commitment, while men often focus more on immediate emotional or sexual interest.

There is plenty more of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” still to come, despite the Prime Video series concluding its 3-season run this week. Prime Video has greenlit a feature film to conclude the story laid out in the series. The news was announced during The Summer I Turned Pretty finale event in Paris, hours after the series finale dropped on Prime Video. After much speculation, “Camp Rock 3” is officially happening! Disney has confirmed the sequel is greenlit for Disney+ and Disney Channel. Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas will reprise their roles as the Gray brothers. Demi Lovato is attached to executive produce alongside Jonas Brothers. Maria Canals-Barrera, who played Lovato’s mother in the franchise, will also return for the follow-up. The news comes 15 years after “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” arrived as the supposed end to the Disney film franchise.
“PAW Patrol” is coming to CBS. A PAW Patrol Christmas animated holiday special will air on the network on Nov. 28, and stream on Paramount+. It will feature a mix of original and classic holiday songs, and follow construction-savvy pup ‘Rubble’, as he is looking forward to Santa bringing him a new laser drill. But things take a turn when Santa comes down with a cold and can’t deliver any presents.

For decades, Publishers Clearing House changed people’s lives with prize money that it said would keep coming for as long as they lived. But now, many past winners are learning those promises won’t be kept. The sweepstakes giant is in bankruptcy, and ARB Interactive, the mobile gaming firm that bought its remaining assets, says it will not honor prize payouts awarded before July 15. That leaves winners, who had counted on guaranteed weekly checks, suddenly without income. Example: John Wyllie of Washington, who was promised $5,000 a week for life in 2012, is now selling possessions to pay bills. Other winners, including disabled veterans Matthew and Tamar Veatch, say they feel betrayed after relying on payouts that vanished overnight.

Starbucks recently rolled out a policy requiring baristas to handwrite notes on every cup, with consequences — including possible termination — for mistakes or omissions. Meant to boost the customer experience, the rule has left some employees frustrated, saying it adds stress…and slows service. Forgetting a cup, using the wrong pen, or drawing animals all count as minor or medium infractions. Offensive or inappropriate messages are considered serious violations. Warnings escalate from verbal coaching to write-ups, with repeated or severe infractions potentially leading to firing. Baristas say the mandate, part of the “Back to Starbucks” campaign, can feel ‘mechanical’ rather than meaningful. And during busy hours, having to write notes on cups while under close supervision reduces the chance for genuine connection, turning what was once a personal touch into a stressful checklist.
