SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
People are pushing back against “guilt tipping,” with fewer selecting the high-percentage buttons on checkout screens. A new survey in the US shows the average person spent $283 on “pressure-driven” tips in 2025, down sharply from $453 in 2024. Consumers now give in to tip prompts just 4.2 times per month, compared to 6.3 last year. While many still tip more than they feel is fair (about $24 extra each month), the trend suggests growing resistance to social pressure at the register. Rising living costs are also a factor, as 41% say they’ve reduced tips, though some continue tipping generously to support workers.

Matthew McConaughey revealed his secret tip for a healthier marriage: getting a smaller bed. He’s been married to Camila Alves McConaughey for over a decade, and feels that couples with king-sized beds should consider downsizing. He said to Fox news that he awakened one morning, “and Camila’s like a football field away, man…you want to snuggle up and … Come about 12 feet, and I’ll come 12 feet.” He concluded that a king-size bed is not good for a marriage, so they “got a queen-size, where we’re shoulder to shoulder.”
James Corden told People mag that his next fitness milestone is to be “as fit as” costar and friend Neil Patrick Harris. Corden has been open about his ongoing health journey, previously sharing that he’d tried Ozempic, and it “didn’t really work.” Now, he has started working out with Harris’ trainer. What kind of workout is he doing? “It’s lunging, it’s plunging…I am actually rather enjoying it.”
“Star Wars” fans are one step closer to returning to a galaxy far, far away. The first trailer for director Jon Favreau’s “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” the upcoming “Star Wars” film starring Pedro Pascal from his “Mandalorian” Disney+ series, has been revealed. In it, ‘Mando’ and ‘Grogu’ (Baby Yoda) meet Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White’s characters and fight a variety of evil robots and sci-fi beasts. There are also cameos from the adorable “Rise of Skywalker” alien race of Babu Frik and Zeb Orrelios from “Star Wars Rebels.” The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to hit theaters May 22, 2026. DID YA KNOW!?
People who eat whatever they want and stay slim have a slow metabolism, not fast. A skinny person tends to have less muscle mass than others, meaning their basal metabolic rate (BMR) is lower than those of a high muscle mass – this gives them a slow metabolism, not a fast one.

OF THE DAY
A study found that 8% of us are afraid of the dark.
The “COVID pause is the latest generational conversation to take over TikTok. Some Millennials and Zoomers on social media say the years since 2020 feel missing, with many insisting they don’t feel older. Some frame it as COVID “stealing” time, while others blame disrupted milestones, economic struggles, or even trauma for freezing people at their pandemic age. The debate has spilled over to X, where some mock older users for dancing online, while others argue that fun has no age limit. Researchers note that real impacts of the pandemic do linger, with many students remaining behind in academic recovery.

WEIRD NEWS
Inhabitants of an apartment block in Bavaria, Germany, who called police to investigate the relentless buzzing of their doorbells late at night were surprised to find the culprit was not a teenage prankster as they suspected, but…a slug. The slug had been sliding up and down the bell plate, creating havoc in the building and forcing angry residents out of their beds long after midnight when they couldn’t sleep for the noise. When the bell continued ringing even after police arrived, a closer inspection revealed a slimy interloper inching across the metal plate, leaving a glistening trail in its wake. Authorities eventually relocated the gastropod to a nearby patch of grass, after giving it a firm lesson on apartment etiquette.

CHEAT CODES FOR LIFE:
If you’ve ever discovered an everyday hack that totally changed the game, you know just how good that feels. A Reddit recently asked: “What’s a ‘cheat code’ you discovered in real life that actually works?” Here are the best responses…
✓ Compliment people behind their back.
✓ Be quick to give credit to others when things work out and the first to admit responsibility when things go wrong.
✓ Chilling the (bleep!) out when driving.
✓ Never be nice, be kind.
✓ If you act like the kind of person you’d want to bump into on your worst day, life gets way easier. People open doors, literally and figuratively.
✓ Stop giving a (bleep!) about what other people think.
✓ How to say NO.
✓ Finding peace in the mirror, not perfection.
✓ Walking daily clears your head more than half of the advice online.
✓ Listen more, talk less.
✓ Never stop dating your wife and kiss often.
✓ Be a regular at your favorite local establishments, learn the staff’s names, treat them well, and tip them well! You will be treated like royalty.
✓ Not being afraid to ask questions.
✓ When you’re tired, drink water before you drink coffee. You’re probably dehydrated.
✓ Get at least 8 hours of sleep, and your life will improve dramatically.
✓ And perhaps most importantly, “Place a tortilla under your tacos so when you eat them and stuff falls out, you get an extra at the end.”
