SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Do you suffer from motion sickness? Well, good news: Music might be the cure. A new study found that the right playlist can cut motion sickness nearly in half, with no pills required. Researchers at Southwest University in China strapped 30 carsick-prone volunteers into a nausea-inducing driving simulator, wiring their brains with 64 electrodes to track their queasiness. Once symptoms hit, participants listened to different styles of music for a minute — or sat in silence. Here’s what they found: listening to upbeat music eased motion sickness by 57%, soft tunes by 57%, and passionate songs by 48%. Sad music, however, actually made things worse. And since about a third of adults are highly susceptible to carsickness, the findings could have big implications — not just for road trips, but also for flights and boat rides.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
John Lithgow will bring his Olivier Award-winning performance as ‘Roald Dahl’ in Mark Rosenblatt’s “Giant” to Broadway in March. Giant chronicles a turbulent time in the life of famed children’s author Dahl, when he was accused of anti-Semitism in the early 1980s. The play will hit Broadway following sold-out runs on London’s West End. Performances at a theater to be announced will begin March 11, 2026, for a strictly limited 16-week engagement. Lithgow will also be seen as ‘Dumbledore’ in the “Harry Potter” series for HBO, expected to debut in 2027.

DID YA KNOW!?
You can smell ants. Many species of ants release strong-smelling chemicals when they’re angry, threatened or being squished. Trap-jaw ants release a chocolatey smell when annoyed, while citronella ants earn their name from the lemony odour they give off.

OF THE DAY
A study found that running for 2 minutes is just as good for you as working out for 90 minutes.
A Connecticut man nicknamed the “Croc King” has been awarded a Guinness World Record for amassing the world’s largest Crocs collection — 3,569 pairs. His obsession with the colorful clogs began at age 16, when growing up in foster care left him without knowing how to tie traditional laces. As a teen, he kept a “goals list” in his journal, with one being to own 366 pairs of Crocs. What started as a quirky challenge evolved into a massive pursuit, and by 2023 his collection topped 2,000 pairs. Officially certified last fall, the total has since climbed past 3,800 pairs. He hopes one day to display the collection in a public “Crocseum.”

WEIRD NEWS
Two American women went viral after accidentally boarding a plane from Rome to Tunis, Tunisia, instead of Nice, France. The mix-up happened when they missed their original flight and asked to be rebooked “to Nice.” Nice is pronounced “neese”; Tunis is pronounced “too neese.” Airline staff directed them to Tunisair, and the women unknowingly bought tickets to the African destination. They only realized the problem mid-flight when a passenger clarified, “To Tunis, yeah.” Stuck until landing, they eventually caught a flight to France. On TikTok, one joked with a photo captioned: “NICE, COMMA, FRANCE.”

THE LIST
MYTH-CONCEPTIONS:
Things that many people believe, that simply aren’t true…
Myth: In 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African American man to play Major League Baseball.
Fact: In 1879, the Providence Grays of the National League signed African American William Edward White. He played in one game.
Myth: Polaris, the North Star, is a star.
Fact: The famous navigational reference point looks like a single source of light to the human eye, 433 light years away. But Polaris is a triple star system, comprised of 3 gravitationally bonded stars.
Myth: Possums pretend to be dead in order to trick predators into leaving them alone.
Fact: “Playing possum” isn’t voluntary. When a predator comes near, the animals go into shock, then faint. Later, they wake up and come out of their comatose state. (Same, possum, same.)
Myth: Warthogs are covered in warts.
Fact: Warts are caused by a virus. Warthogs just have bumpy, thick, roughly textured skin. It protects them from damage during fights with other animals. (I suppose next you’re going to tell me that jellyfish aren’t filled with jelly?)
