SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Some good news if you just can’t seem to find the time to squeeze in a full workout. Research shows that “microdosing” exercise (short bursts of activity) can be just as effective as longer sessions. A 2019 review found that multiple 10-minute workouts matched a single 30-minute one in improving blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight. Even ultra-brief “exercise snacks,” like 20-second sprints, can boost aerobic fitness…if done with intensity. The World Health Organization recommends 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise weekly, but how you split it up doesn’t matter. The key: move often, push hard in shorter sessions, and remember: Even small doses of activity add up.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Taylor Swift has announced 2 projects for Disney+: A full concert film, “The Eras Tour | The Final Show”, as well as a 6-episode docuseries on the tour, will both arrive December 12. Swift wrote on Instagram: “It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives…And to film the final show in its entirety.” With what Disney+ calls unprecedented access, the docuseries “Tayor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era”, will chronicle “the development, impact, and inner-workings that created the phenomenon that was The Eras Tour.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4wm6eeyh

Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari are coming clean. The “Laguna Beach: The Real O.C.” stars are putting feud rumors to bed, reuniting in a rare photo almost 20 years after their on-screen rivalry began. Cavallari captioned her post, in which she and Lauren stood arm in arm: “Everyone can put away their team Lauren and team Kristin shirts now.” They weren’t the only former Laguna Beach alums gathering back together: In late September, it was announced that the series will be filming a reunion. JOKE OF THE DAY

SCOOP OF THE DAY

WOULD YOU RATHER?

Would you rather always have to sing instead of speaking, or dance everywhere you go?

Would you rather live in a world where you can only eat sweet foods, or a world where you can only eat savory foods?

Would you rather only be allowed to use spoons, or only be allowed to use knives for the rest of your life?

Would you rather be a famous actor in a terrible movie, or an unknown actor in a fantastic movie?

Would you rather be a professional athlete in a sport you hate, or have your dream job but work for a terrible boss?

Would you rather never have to sleep again, or never have to eat again?

Would you rather be able to breathe underwater, or fly?

Would you rather have a personal chef, or a personal trainer for life?

Would you rather have the ability to teleport anywhere in the world but always arrive naked, or teleport with your clothes on, but only to places you’ve been before?

WEIRD NEWS

Plans for a $1 million public toilet in Los Angeles are causing an uproar, with residents accusing the city of wasting money. The proposed 2-stall restroom near the popular Runyon Canyon hiking trail carries a $960,000 price tag, despite recent budget cuts to essential services like the fire department. Locals call it “an epic waste of money,” saying a similar facility could be built for half the cost. The 160-acre park, a stone’s throw from the famed Hollywood sign, is known for its views and celebrity sightings. It draws thousands daily, but critics argue taxpayers shouldn’t be footing such a hefty bill just to answer nature’s call.

If you’re always surprised by your huge credit card bill at the end of the month, this could be why: A new survey shows kids’ unapproved online shopping habits are hitting parents’ wallets hard. Nearly one in 3 parents (31%) said their child has made a digital purchase without permission, with the average spree costing $170. For 19% of parents, the damage was over $300, thanks to kids secretly ordering pricey items like computers, smartphones, or even cryptocurrency. The study, commissioned by Achieve, also revealed many parents struggle to monitor their kids’ spending: 23% rarely check card activity, and 11% don’t require purchase approval. The bigger issue is financial literacy: 72% believe their child doesn’t understand the value of money, and nearly half say digital money is especially tough to teach. Here are some more interesting stats from the survey:

Average monthly allowance: $119

14% of kids receive more than $250 per month

73% of allowances are paid in cash

Just 12% of kids never overspend their allowance

After an unapproved purchase, 23% of parents take away a device, 20% require repayment, 11% restrict accounts

61% wish a financial expert could teach their child about money
