THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!
Dear John,
Tonight, I accidentally cut off a vehicle. They were driving in the dark without their headlights on. I didn't even see them until the honked and we barely missed a collision. I was already pretty shook, but then I noticed the driver was raging at me. He was driving a really nice car, and older guy, and he was very angry at me for pulling out in front of him. I didn't even see him, he was driving in the dark with his headlights off! Instead of him understanding that this was a simple mistake he chose to follow me for miles, all the way to my neighborhood. I drove around a few extra blocks and he got stuck at a red light, so I was able to get away and get my car pulled into the garage, but I saw his car drive by my house twice. I don't think he knew which garage I pulled into. I turned off the lights and watched from the window in my garage door. I didn't get the license plate number because he was so close behind me and I was very anxious. I didn't feel safe calling the police while I was driving and I was not going to pull over with him behind me. I wasn't sure what the police would do anyway. What should I have done? I feel like I really messed up. I hope this never happens again, but it might be helpful for others to hear about it too.

New data reveals Halloween sweet trends, including the top picks for trick-or-treaters – and their parents – who plan to sneak some of the haul. Chocolate and candy are an iconic part of the Halloween season. New survey data from the National Confectioners Association reveals how Americans will celebrate the holiday with their favorite treats. U.S. consumers spent $7.4 billion on Halloween chocolate and candy last year — 18% of all confectionery retail sales.
According to the National Confectioners Association:
94% of Americans will share chocolate and candy with friends and family for Halloween.
84% of households welcoming trick-or-treaters will hand out chocolate and candy.
83% of parents admit to sneaking from their kids’ Halloween haul.
89% say seasonal treats are more fun when they reflect Halloween’s shapes, colors, flavors, and spooky packaging.

Guy Fieri told the story of his losing more than $1 million of his Santo Tequila during an appearance on “60 Minutes”. He opened up about an elaborate crime scheme that resulted in 24,000 bottles of tequila going missing from the company he co-founded with Sammy Hagar. Last November, a fake company redirected the company’s drivers, who were not in on the heist, to deliver the tequila elsewhere. Meanwhile, the fake company used spoofed GPS tracking and emails to provide “updates” to Santo Tequila about a delay due to “mechanical failure,” buying the criminals time to transport it elsewhere. 11,000 bottles were recovered in Los Angeles 3 weeks later, but the second truckload was never found.
George Clooney recently told E! News that filming on “Ocean’s 14” is likely going to start next year, with original franchise stars Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle all expected to return. According to him, the budget for the movie was just approved by Warner Bros., and now, moving forward is “just scheduling”. He expects production to “start in about 9 or 10 months”.
Jimmy Fallon has a 5-letter word for NBC: “pilot”. The “Tonight Show” host is developing a game show adaptation of the New York Times’ popular daily puzzle “Wordle”. Though not a shoo-in to go to series, the hopeful project would further expand Fallon’s primetime real estate on his home network. Fallon has history with Wordle himself. In January 2022, he spent nearly 7 minutes trying to solve that day’s word on air. At the time, the viral sensation was an independent endeavor of software engineer Josh Wardle. Weeks later, The New York Times acquired Wordle, eventually folding it into a new NYT Games app.
DID YA KNOW!?
According to researchers from Spain’s University of Granada, spending more time standing up can help our bodies burn more energy and offset the negative health effects of an inactive lifestyle. By simply standing instead of sitting or lying down, our bodies burn 45 more calories every 6 hours. The researchers recommended the adoption of standing desks, which allow employees to stand while they work in an office setting. Some test subjects in the 2019 study were found to burn approximately 10% more energy when they switched from sitting or lying to standing.

KFC has revived a fan-favorite decades in the making. This week, the chain’s beloved Original Honey BBQ returned to menus in the US. It’s one of the “most requested” comebacks ever. First introduced in the late ’90s, the sweet-and-smoky flavor became a cult classic, inspiring fans to recreate it at home. Now it’s back, and bigger than before, available not just on classic chicken pieces, but also on sandwiches and tenders — with nostalgic throwback pricing starting at $3.99. In August, KFC brought back its potato wedges and hot and spicy wings after high demand, and both items remain on the menu.
A new study confirms what Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent have been saying for…like…ever: Most of your fav rappers sound the same. Researchers compared hits from 2002 with Spotify’s 2022 RapCaviar playlist and found striking homogenization. Today’s rap tracks were found to be shorter, rely on the same “808” drum machines, follow just 2 main rhythmic patterns, and use auto-tune or heavy effects on nearly 90% of songs. Lyrics are 60% more similar these days, focusing on predictable themes, while sampling now favors interpolations of past hits instead of unique digs. Streaming platforms like Spotify incentivize these similarities, rewarding familiar-sounding songs for playlists over originality. In short, economic pressures and algorithmic curation have flattened the sonic diversity that once defined hip-hop.

Holiday Inn Express is launching a world-first hotel experience — a scent-based alarm clock. In an effort to improve guests’ sleep and mornings, the hotel chain has unveiled its new “Breakfast Alarm Clock,” a scent-based device that wakes guests with aromas like coffee, bacon, or blueberry muffins. Rolling out Oct. 20 across all Holiday Inn Express hotels in Australia and New Zealand, plus some locations in Singapore, Thailand, and Japan, the diffuser-style clock aims to help travelers wake up happier and eat better. Research commissioned by IHG found 58% of Asia-Pacific travelers said pleasant scents improve mornings. With travelers often skipping breakfast, the new wake-up system blends routine, rest, and a whiff of comfort food.

If Gen Z’s slang makes you feel like you’ve accidentally walked into another dimension — where people laugh at “6-7” and call “mogging” a compliment — don’t worry. You’re not broken, you’re just pre-update. Slang is how the young stay young, and it is meant to confuse those of a certain age. Gen Z’s digital dialect is born from TikTok, gaming, and meme culture — evolving faster than autocorrect can keep up. According to Unscramblerer.com, these are the top slang words of 2025 lighting up the internet:
6-7: Absurd humor — funny because it makes no sense.
Ohio: Used to describe something weird, cursed, or just plain off.
Mogging: Outshining others in looks or skill — a compliment.
Huzz: Someone attractive or worth impressing.
Glazing: Giving fake, over-the-top praise.
Chopped: The opposite of huzz — unattractive or undesirable.
Zesty: Fun, energetic, and full of personality.
So, the next time someone says your fit is “zesty” and you’re “mogging” the crowd, just smile — congratulations, you’ve leveled up in the language of Gen Z. Either that…or you’re just plain delulu!
