SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Well, THIS doesn’t really seem fair: Women benefit much more from exercise than men, reaping many more gains with considerably less work, according to a new study. British researchers found that women can achieve comparable health benefits to men, while putting in less than half as much time at the gym. Analyzing data from over 85,000 people wearing activity trackers, it was found that women needed just 250 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous exercise per week to reduce heart disease risk by 30%, compared to 530 minutes for men. Even meeting the standard guideline of 150 minutes weekly lowered women’s risk by 22%, versus 17% for men. The researchers suggest biological factors, like higher estrogen levels and differences in muscle composition, may explain women’s greater responsiveness. The findings underscore that “one-size-fits-all” exercise recommendations are misleading and highlight the need for tailored guidance to encourage female physical activity.

Britney Spears’ recent turbulence on Instagram has come to an end in a surprising way, as she appears to have deleted her account. Spears’ account, which as of Saturday bore the handle @britneyspears and the display name “XILA MARIA RIVER RED”, now directs to an error page that notes the profile is no longer available. It’s unclear whether Spears personally deleted her own account, or if the social media platform owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta suspended or deleted it.
October was a bust at the box office as big-budget tentpoles and awards contenders like “Tron: Ares” and “The Smashing Machine” struggled to sell tickets. Revenues for the month were tragic with $425 million across all titles, the worst haul since October 1997. This Halloween was especially dreadful with weekend grosses of just $49 million, the worst weekend of the entire year. Several reasons were to blame for the scary-low turnout, including a lack of new releases – and Halloween landing on a Friday, which meant families were trick-or-treating, and the final games of the World Series.

OF THE DAY
New research shows the average person spends more than a third of their paycheck within 12 hours of getting paid – and nearly half within 48 hours. Millennials lead the way, spending about 40% almost immediately, mostly on essentials like groceries, bills, and rent. The study of American workers also found that only 28% prioritize savings right away. Many admit to overspending after payday, often because bills are due early in the month or they’re trying to catch up on overdue payments. Younger generations, especially Gen Z, also said they feel pressure to spend to “keep up” with friends. Here are some more findings…
• 73% feel stressed about money
• 62% say being paid daily would boost their wellness
• Gen Z spends $275 yearly on overdraft or late fees vs. $27 for boomers

WEIRD NEWS
Dubai’s luxury cafĂ© scene just brewed up a record. On September 13, Roasters, a high-end Emirati coffee chain, officially set a Guinness World Record for the most expensive cup of coffee ever served: 2,500 dirhams (US $680). The exclusive cup was poured at the flagship Boulevard Downtown location, using ultra-rare Panamanian Geisha beans from the famed Hacienda La Esmeralda farm. Served in a handcrafted Edo Kiriko crystal glass from Japan, the coffee came with tiramisu and Geisha-infused chocolate ice cream. Roasters had stunned the industry weeks earlier by buying a 20-kilogram lot of the beans for $604,000, cementing its place in coffee history.
