SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Have you ever found yourself yelling at the TV when the wrong team scored a big goal? That rage isn’t just in your head… well, actually, it is. A new brain-scan study explains why die-hard soccer fans literally lose their minds during matches. Researchers at Universidad San Sebastián found that when fans watched their team beat a rival, their brain’s reward centers lit up like they’d just eaten chocolate – or won a jackpot. But when the opposing team scored, the brain’s “emergency brake” – which controls aggression – went quiet. Hard-core “fanatics” showed the strongest reactions, while casual fans stayed cooler. The findings suggest sports rivalries tap into ancient tribal instincts, turning team loyalty into something deeply personal…and sometimes explosive. Science is telling us that it’s not just “a game”…but modern-day tribal warfare played out on a soccer pitch.

And just like that, we have the 2026 recipient of the Golden Globes‘ top career TV honor. Sarah Jessica Parker will receive the Carol Burnett Award for her contributions to the television industry, both in front of and behind the camera. The “Sex and the City” and “And Just Like That…” star will pick up her prize during the inaugural “Golden Eve” primetime special on January 8, three nights before the main ceremony. CBS will air the special, and Paramount+ will stream it.
The first official teaser for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has been released, reuniting fans with Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and the sleek offices of Runway magazine. While it doesn’t really reveal much, fans of the first film are still treated to an onscreen reunion between the 2 beloved characters, 20 years later. The sequel, which was announced in June, is set to debut in theaters on May 1, 2026. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yc4xmfd8
Morgan Freeman is the latest actor to say he’s unhappy with AI trying to mimic his voice without his permission. Freeman told The Guardian that he’s “a little PO’d”, and feels “like any other actor: don’t mimic me with falseness.” He pointed out that he isn’t paid when his voice is utilized by AI, “so if you’re gonna do it without me, you’re robbing me.” Freeman said his lawyers have already uncovered “quite a few” instances of his voice being used and replicated without permission…and they’re searching for more.
DID YA KNOW!?
Did You Know... The best strategy for winning at rock, paper, scissors is to be as random and unpredictable as possible… and don’t pay attention to what happened in the last round. That’s according to a study published in Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, which found that those who were influenced by previous rounds tend to lose more often. But that’s easier said than done. The analysis of 15,000 games of rock, paper, scissors also found that people struggle to be truly random, when playing the game. More than half of the players favored “rock”, and “scissors” was favored least. And people tended to avoid repeating choices, going for another option on their next round more often than would be expected by chance.

OF THE DAY
With Jonathan Bailey newly crowned this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” it’s a good moment to ask what actually makes someone “sexy.” People magazine’s pick always sparks debate, but experts say sexiness goes far beyond looks. According to psychologists, attraction is shaped by biology, cultural trends, scent, voice, symmetry, and even simple exposure to someone over time. Personality plays an equally big role: confidence, charisma, and especially kindness can elevate someone from “good-looking” to genuinely irresistible. And because tastes shift across generations and cultures, what’s sexy now may not be sexy tomorrow. And what gives one person a feeling that someone is sexy may be grossly unappealing to another. In the end, there’s no universal formula. It’s just what makes you feel that spark.
Coca-Cola is getting festive with its first limited-edition holiday soda in 5 years: Coca-Cola Holiday Creamy Vanilla. The seasonal drink gives the classic Coke a smooth vanilla twist, meant to evoke “comfort, refreshment and festive joy”. The company said the flavor was designed to capture “the simple joys that make the season special.” The drink comes in both original and Zero Sugar versions, featuring holiday-inspired packaging in creamy vanilla hues. Each 12-ounce serving of the full-sugar version has 150 calories and 42 grams of sugar, while the Zero Sugar version has none. The soda is now available across the U.S. and Canada.

WEIRD NEWS
German police recently discovered a Mercedes-Benz GLE 400…equipped with homemade wooden brake pads. The SUV had been bought at auction, and the new owner quickly noticed the brakes were barely working. After towing it to a dealership, mechanics found charred wood dust on the wheels – and wooden blocks where the pads should be. Adding to the absurdity, “Brembo” was written on them in marker, the name of a famous brake brand. Cops are now looking for the car’s previous owner.
