SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
What’s the best time of day to work out? Exercise is good for you anytime, but the best time may depend on your goals. Experts agree that the ideal workout is the one you’ll actually do – but studies suggest mornings have an edge, especially for weight loss. Research in Obesity found that people who exercised between 7 and 9am had lower BMIs than those who worked out later. Morning exercisers also tend to be more consistent, and healthier overall. Plus, early workouts boost endorphins, metabolism, and mood, and they’re less likely to be derailed by a busy day. Exercising before breakfast may even burn more fat – double, according to one 2019 study. Bottom line: morning movement wins on motivation and metabolism, but working out at any time can bring many health benefits, including strengthening your muscles and improving heart health.

Donald Sutherland’s memoir is being held up by his estate. In a lawsuit, Penguin Random House details a dispute with McNichol Pictures in which the company failed to deliver a manuscript of “Made Up, But Still True”, because late actor’s estate didn’t approve the draft. The publishing house seeks the return of a $400,000 advance. The “M*A*S*H”, and “Hunger Games” actor died last year. Before his passing, a draft of the memoir had been submitted, with Crown announcing a release in November. The book is described as “bracingly candid” and “utterly unpredictable.” Crown says it was told that Sutherland’s estate had undisclosed issues with the book.
Millie Bobby Brown allegedly accused David Harbour of bullying and harassing her on set of their Netflix show, “Stranger Things.” According to a report, Brown filed a lengthy complaint about Harbour before the series started filming its fifth and final season. Harbour reportedly faced an internal investigation over Brown’s claims, though the outcome is unknown. Additionally, Brown allegedly filmed the series finale accompanied by a personal representative on set. The “Hellboy” star was allegedly not accused of any sexual impropriety in the complaint.
DID YA KNOW!?
Did You Know... Bananas Are Berries, But Strawberries Aren’t? Botanically speaking, bananas are considered berries, but strawberries aren’t! A berry is defined as a fruit that develops from a single ovary and has multiple seeds embedded in the flesh. Bananas fit this definition, while strawberries don’t because their seeds are on the outside. Nature loves to surprise us with these quirky distinctions!

OF THE DAY
Insomnia affects roughly 30% of people worldwide. That’s bad news because a new study links not getting enough sleep to higher risks of coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke, especially large artery stroke. The Swedish researchers concluded that their study highlights the importance of identifying and addressing sleep difficulties. The lead author said: “Sleep is a behavior that can be changed by new habits and stress management.
Sleeping with lights on could be doing more harm than you think. A study of nearly 89,000 people found those with the brightest bedrooms had a 42% higher risk of heart attack. The connection held up regardless of diet, exercise, or genetics. Even moderate nighttime light raised risk by up to 27%. Researchers say exposure to light at night disrupts circadian rhythms, keeping blood pressure and stress hormones elevated when they should drop. Over time, that can damage arteries and the heart. The takeaway? Dim the screens, draw the curtains, and let your heart rest in the dark.

WEIRD NEWS
People in Florida have a quirky new pastime: watching The Elbo Room bar livestream from home. Since 1996, the Fort Lauderdale bar has streamed daily events and staff antics to stay connected with patrons, and viewers now tune in to see bartenders mix drinks, random dance-offs, and more. Fans like ‘Courtney’ share clips, humorously guessing what’s happening, since the livestream is silent. She calls it her “favorite show”. Free on YouTube, the “BandCam+” subscription offers sound and extra camera angles for $2.99 a month. Multiple cameras cover the bar, patio, beach, and band area. The Elbo Room, founded in 1938, was the world’s first commercial venue to livestream live online. https://www.elboroom.com/liveshow/
