THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!
Dear John,
My family is already driving me crazy and we're weeks away from Christmas. We do a gift exchange at Christmas each year. Sadly, my brother has ruined that for us. Over the last few years, he has completely forgotten to buy a gift, so whoever has his name will buy him a gift, whoever is drawn by him will get the shaft. We tried to fix this by doing a different style of gift exchange, but for some reason that was too difficult apparently. This year we're back to the old version. My brother is going to forget to buy a gift. I volunteered to be the one on the receiving end because I don't need anything anyway. Now my mother is upset that I made a big deal of this. She says to give him a chance to get it right. Mom, he had a chance for the last six years! I want to find out who he is supposed to get something for and secretly buy them something. Would that be wrong? Any other ideas?
Signed – Sad Little Sister

Researchers say people worldwide spend a surprisingly consistent amount of time travelling each day. Instead of focusing on distance or fuel efficiency, the new study highlights the need to shift travellers into modes of transport that consume less energy per hour to meet climate and energy consumption goals. McGill professor Eric Galbraith said that most people, no matter where they live, average about 78 minutes of travel daily, with very few countries falling below 40 minutes. This holds true across income levels.

Macaulay Culkin is reminding people of his real name. He answered a question about his “actual name” at A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin, an event celebrating the 35th anniversary of “Home Alone”. At one point, he said: “My name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin, before recalling doing a poll where fans got to vote to change his middle name. The poll was announced on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in November 2018. A month later, he shared on Twitter (now X) that the public voted to change his middle name from Carson to Macaulay Culkin. And he actually legally changed his middle name in 2019.
Disney’s live-action “Snow White” remake may have stumbled at the box office and sparked months of controversy, but Gal Gadot isn’t ready to close the book just yet. Despite the backlash surrounding the film’s “woke” reinvention of the classic fairytale, behind-the-scenes tension between cast members, and fierce debate over its updated themes, the ‘Evil Queen’ herself has made it clear that she’d gladly return to the franchise for a potential sequel. She said to US Weekly: “I would love to do that. Yes. Tell [Disney CEO] Bob [Iger]. Bob, I’ll do that.”
Kim Kardashian’s legal drama “All’s Fair” is coming back for a second season after Hulu has renewed the Ryan Murphy creation ahead of its season finale. That’s the latest proof that ratings will supersede critical reaction. After the soapy series received scathing reviews and only a 3% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it became the biggest Hulu Original scripted series premiere in 3 years. The Disney-owned streamer said that the show received 3.2 million views globally in its first 3 days of streaming.

When the Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World's

dismantled. However, the tower was repurposed as a giant radio
antenna, which saved it from demolition. It’s now one of the most

OF THE DAY
OK, if you’ve got kids of a certain age, and they’re nearby, you’ll want to guide them out of the room, because we’re going to cover some sensitive subject matter. Ready? Alright. Apparently, AI is threatening to ruin Christmas for kids. That’s what Kelly Bowron learned when her 11-year-old son, Leo, asked Google about Santa’s spending budget per child. The search returned this blunt answer: “Santa is fictional”. Bowron says she laughed in disbelief and reassured Leo, but the incident left her “annoyed” at AI for nearly spoiling the holiday magic. Other parents have faced similar disruptions, as chatbots and large language models like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Grok become more and more popular. Experts warn that with so many AI sources, keeping Santa’s existence a possibility in the eyes of today’s children is becoming increasingly difficult. Recent research found that 51% of children aged 8 and younger have their own mobile devices, and about 33% of parents allow their kids to access AI chatbots…including for questions like: “Is Santa real?”

WEIRD NEWS
Everton’s Idrissa Gueye became the first Premier League soccer player in over 15 years to be sent off for…fighting with a teammate. The shocking moment came just 13 minutes into Everton’s match at Manchester United, when Gueye angrily confronted defender Michael Keane after a near miss by the home side. He slapped Keane in the face, prompting referee Tony Harrington to issue an immediate red card. The incident drew comparisons to the Bowyer-Dyer bust-up of 2005. The Premier League later reviewed the footage and upheld the dismissal for violent conduct. Gueye later apologized to Keane…and to the rest of their team. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2e2c2bx6

HEALTHY HOLIDAY HABITS:
With the busy holiday season arriving, along with cold and flu season, here are some important ways to keep your immune system healthy, according to Leana Wen, clinical associate professor at George Washington University and CNN Wellness Expert
1. Stay Physically Active: Regular exercise strengthens the immune system. The CDC says that active people have a lower chance of dying from flu or pneumonia. Aim for 150 minutes of moderate to high-intensity activity per week.
2. Cut Down on Ultraprocessed Foods: Junk foods loaded with preservatives, emulsifiers, dyes, and artificial ingredients can elevate inflammation and disrupt normal immune function. Focus on whole foods like vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and nuts.
3. Improve Sleep Quality: Getting fewer than 7 hours of sleep a night reduces immune defenses. Prioritize 8 hours in bed, keep consistent sleep and wake times, avoid screens before bed, and create a cool, dark, quiet sleeping environment.
