SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
An earlier bedtime means you’re likely to do more exercise the next day, says a new study. Researchers tracked nearly 20,000 adults, and found that those in bed by 9pm logged about 30 more minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity the following day than people who went to bed at 1am. Even shifting from 11pm to 9pm added about 15 extra minutes. The data indicates it’s not laziness that keeps us from morning exercise, it’s simply a matter of our schedules making morning workouts easier when we go to bed earlier, which supports a more active, healthier lifestyle.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
If you thought Quentin Tarantino didn’t have even more to add to “Kill Bill” and make the film even longer, think again. He’s set to release possibly his greatest movie, “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair,” which is a 4-plus-hour cut of the movie. The new extended version of the film will hit theaters next month, and will include un-seen anime sequence that wasn’t even in the original Cannes cut of the movie. Tarantino has also turned to the popular video game “Fortnite” to recreate yet another chapter that he wrote for the very first draft of Kill Bill, which was never filmed.
“Zootopia 2” easily topped $150 million domestically over the holiday weekend, thanks to an extra-strong Black Friday. However, it’s the foreign numbers that are making Hollywood do a double take, with it seeing a single-day record in Chinese theatres Friday, where it grossed $104 million. The Disney sequel is looking at a $525 million international gross for the weekend. “Wicked: For Good” netted an estimated $93.5 million domestically over the long weekend, significantly less than the $118 million the original Wicked grossed in its second weekend.
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi are reportedly considering a move back to the US after they left the country for a new life in the UK. Some say the couple would only be staying for the holidays as they try to avoid the cold weather in the Cotswolds, but there are also reports that de Rossi wants to return to acting, so it remains to be seen how long they might be in the States. DeGeneres and de Rossi earlier liquidated their real estate portfolio, meaning they’ll either have to buy a new home for their stay or settle for a hotel or Airbnb.
Don’t “believe” everything you hear about Cher. The superstar isn’t headed to Netflix anytime soon, despite reports she locked down a multimillion dollar deal. A UK report circulated last week, claiming she had inked a $13 million deal with the streamer for a 7-episode tell-all series about the highs and lows of her life. The supposed project, allegedly titled “Sharing Her Story”, was said to be targeting a 2026 release. However, TMZ reports sources as saying that the story is pure fantasy, and a Netflix series isn’t happening, and there is no deal in place.

Have you been dealing with a stuffy nose or itchy skin ever since you put up your Christmas tree? Do you find yourself reaching for your inhaler or cough drops more frequently over the holidays? If so, it might just be that you’re allergic…to your Christmas tree. For some, holiday cheer comes with sneezes, rashes, or wheezing…a condition known as Christmas tree syndrome. Affecting roughly 7% of people, this allergic reaction occurs when handling coniferous trees like pine, fir, or spruce. Symptoms can appear within 24 hours, or take several days. In severe cases, like Australian woman Niki Waldegrave’s, exposure can cause blisters, hives, and wheezing requiring medical treatment. Experts say the culprits are tree pollens and balsam oils, rather than airborne mold. For allergy sufferers, taking precautions such as wearing gloves, limiting contact, or opting for artificial trees can help keep the holidays healthy.

WEIRD NEWS
Carmel, California, has officially banned pickleball at its only public court after residents complained about the…noise? A temporary ban last month gave locals a taste of peace and quiet, and many urged the city council to make it permanent. Supporters of pickleball argued for a compromise, suggesting requiring softer paddles and balls, but council said that option would require supervision, and residents worried that what was described as a constant “sharp popping noise echoing through the neighborhood” would return.
