SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Many people prefer not to drink tap water because of concerns about what impurities it might contain. But according to new research, it may be cleaner than bottled or dispenser water. A review of about 70 international studies found that water coolers and dispensers frequently contain higher levels of bacteria than the municipal water that supplies them. In some locations, 70-80% of dispensers exceeded recommended safety limits. The main culprit is biofilm. That’s the slimy bacterial buildup inside tubing, filters, and nozzles that can return within days after cleaning. Researchers also detected potentially harmful bacteria and coliforms. Unlike city water systems, dispensers face little regulation or routine testing, raising concerns about their widespread use in offices, schools, and hospitals.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
Barry Williams revisited his romance with “The Brady Bunch” costar Maureen McCormick while appearing on “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Australia”. He compared dating on the series to being on “Love Island”, explaining that they spent nearly all their time together. Williams, who played ‘Greg Brady’, said that he had dated McCormick, who played his sister ‘Marcia’ “on and off for different times” while working together on the series. He didn’t hold back in describing her appeal, calling the now 69-year-old actress “the hottest girl on television at the time and cute as could be.” But both former child moved on. Williams has been married to Tina Mahina since 2017, while McCormick shares a daughter with her husband of over 40 years, Michael Cummings.
Sydney Sweeney had an interesting idea to promote her lingerie line, but some red tape has gotten in her way. “The Housemaid” star was seen climbing on the iconic Hollywood sign to string up a clothesline of bras as a promo shoot. But that’s where some legal issues may come into play. According to a report from TMZ, while she did get a permit from FilmLA to shoot the Hollywood Sign, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said in a statement: “There was no permission granted” to “touch or climb the sign itself.” Apparently, this could result in a criminal trespass and/or vandalism charge, but no word on whether the chamber will pursue that option.

The proposed location would span 76,300 square feet, topping its current record-holder in Luling, Texas. For comparison, 7-Eleven locations typically span just 2,500 to 3,000 square feet. Plans include 120 gas pumps(!), 18 EV charging stations, and more than 700 parking spaces at the site near Interstate 95. Founded in Texas in the 1980s, Buc-ee’s is known for its enormous stores. The Fort Pierce site would become the company’s fourth Florida location.
